After the Film, Now the DVD of Ghajini Rules the Charts

BIG Home Video’s recent release Aamir Khan starrer ‘Ghajini’ has been ruling the home video charts across the country consistently, since its March 14th launch coinciding with Aamir’s birthday.

If ‘Ghajini’ was the most awaited film last year, its home video ruling the charts has proved that the home video has also been awaited by the film fans. Starring Aamir Khan, Asin, Jiah Khan, Pradeep Rawat in power packed performances, directed by A R Murugadoss, with music by the maestro A.R. Rahaman, the film has been creating box office records both in India and abroad.

BIG Home Video has launched a premium collector’s edition, a 2 DVD pack. Apart from the film, the ‘Special Features’ disc is full of exclusive, never seen before content. The disc contains ‘Making of Ghajini’, ‘Making of the songs’, ‘Aamir Khan’s workout’, ‘Aamir’s injury’, ‘Deleted scenes’ and the now omnipresent ‘Ghajini look’. ‘Ghajini’s’ strength lies in its gripping screenplay. The raw action sequences are amongst the finest you will see in a long, long time. Watching Aamir’s character grapple with his 15 minute memory span makes for an engaging watch. It is also a film that ought to be seen for the sheer novelty of its theme and its execution.

There would not be many who would have missed the film and there would be one too many who would want to repeat the experience again. For all of those, ‘Ghajini’ home video is an essential to their library collection.

I have perfect figure for catwalk, says Heidi Klum

London, Mar 7 (ANI): German supermodel Heidi Klum has blasted criticism of her weight by refusing to diet, insisting she has the perfect figure for the catwalk.

The Victoria Secret’s model was condemned by designer Wolfgang Joop last month for being “too heavy” to model.

However, the 35-year-old catwalk queen revealed that she has never been the type to diet- insisting that her kids and pop star hubby Seal are more than enough to keep her in shape.

“I was never a diet sort of person. But when I started to model, I knew already that I would have to watch what I ate and for example, stop eating wiener schnitzel (Austrian dish of fried veal),” the Daily Express quoted Klum as saying.

“My children are my best workout and I am of course also busy with my husband,” she added. (ANI)

David Boon’s legendary defence hasn’t weakened with age

Melbourne, Feb 24 (ANI): At the age of 48, former Aussie opener David Boon was as solid in his defence as he ever was, and made South African net bowlers sweat it out in Potchefstroom on the third day of Australia’s tour game against Proteas XI.

Boon is in South Africa as a selector for the Australian team, but during a break in play he decided to borrow a pair of pads and a bat and give the local net bowlers a workout.

He armed himself with Brad Haddin’s bat, but did not bother with a helmet or introductions, The Courier Mail reported.

One of the Porteas bowlers came across and asked who he was. On being informed he yelled to his mates: “It is him, it’s Boony.”

At first, the young South African bowlers had taken it easy on the older man, but when they knew it was the former Test champion they threw everything they had at him, but could make no impression.

Boon was as solid in defence as he ever was. “How old is he?” one bowler asked.

Boon is 48 and retired from Test cricket in January 1996. He was twice the age of all the local bowlers, but it didn’t change much.

The former opener still cocks the front elbow, rehearsing his shots, and still places his solid frame squarely behind the ball.

He didn’t time them all perfectly but the cover drive was looking pretty sweet. The general consensus was that Boon was as good as any of the provincial batsmen the net bowlers competed against. (ANI)

Mischa Barton’s secret behind tiny waist – Pilates

New Delhi, Feb 20 (ANI): ‘The O.C.’ star Mischa Barton has revealed that Pilates is the secret behind her slim frame.

She said: “For me, it’s all about Pilates recently. I’m obsessed with Pilates. I think it’s so fun.”

The 23-year-old actress had recently sparked concerns for her health after displaying an increasingly thin physique, reports the China Daily.

Mischa hit out at critics of her weight loss, insisting she has never embarked on faddy diets or extreme exercise regimes.

She added to America’s OK! magazine: “I don’t do any crash diets. There’s nothing that I really do like that, because I’m always working. I mean, before I go do a film, I do workout more. I do get ready for a film and try to be healthy and in shape. And when I’m not working, I do less of it.

“I do more cardio because I work long hours. Jogging, running – tuff like that’s really good before you do a film so you have more energy.” (ANI)

Macca learnt yoga for his eyes during India trip

London, Feb 16 (ANI): Veteran singer Sir Paul McCartney has picked up a unique new exercise routine from India- eye yoga.

In an interview on U.S. TV, the 66-year-old singer demonstrated his new exercise regime, which has him staring in different directions and holding for 20 seconds.

He learnt the exercise during his trip to India during last year.

An eye yoga expert at a hotel in India taught him the exercise, and the former Beatle indulges in an eye workout up to six times a day.

“He told me eyes are muscles (and) are just like any other muscles and they need exercise to keep them working properly,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

“Spending so much time at computers or the TV or reading books, we are only using one set of muscles in our eyes. The yoga gives a workout to the other ones,” he added. (ANI)

Obama steps out in jeans and sneakers in hometown Chicago

Chicago, Feb.16 (ANI): There is some truth to the oft-repeated saying that there is no place like home. Such is the case, it seems , with the First Family of the United States – the Obamas.

They are spending this weekend at their Chicago neighborhood. Having arrived in the city on Air Force One, the Obamas – Barack, Michelle, their two daughters and Michelle’s mother boarded Marine One, the presidential helicopter, on Friday evening at Chicago’s O’Hare airport, and landed in a park along Lake Michigan in Chicago’s South Side, a seven-minute motorcade ride from the Obamas’ Hyde Park home.

The rest of their first trip home since moving to Washington in early January was a three-day study in requited affection between a president and his home city, the Washington Post reports.

The Obamas relished their time at home. The president was back at his old workout haunt, the gym at Regents Park, the luxury apartment complex where his friend Michael Signator lives.

Obama stayed at home on his first night in town. But he and Michelle Obama had Valentine’s Day dinner at a restaurant owned by Oprah Winfrey’s former personal chef. The president also stepped out in jeans and sneakers Sunday night and traveled a few blocks to his friend Marty Nesbitt’s house to watch the NBA All Star game.

Obama’s visit was not without work-his is a round-the-clock job, after all. The president received his daily briefing throughout the weekend. He traveled with his press secretary, Robert Gibbs, and Michelle Obama brought along her deputy chief of staff, Melissa Winter. Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to the president and close friend of the family from Chicago, also made the trip.

Obama’s proximity was the talk of Chicago. “If you see the streets blocked off and big flashing lights,” a bartender at The Grill on Michigan Avenue explained to a customer Friday night, “you’ll know it’s him.”

A local news channel ran a report on how the Obamas’ Hyde Park home has become a magnet for tourists-some of them venturing out to the neighborhood this past weekend to try to catch a glimpse of the president.

Small crowds gathered on street corners to watch his much-lengthier motorcade whiz by. Local restaurants feature menus listing “President Obama’s Favorites,” and an ad on V103 boasts that it’s “the president’s radio station”-followed by a sound bite on the R and B station from Obama circa when he was a senator, saying he listens to the V103 because he’s over 40.

The weekend reprieve followed a big victory for Obama on his economic stimulus plan.

He returns to Washington on Monday, where he faces a busy week-signing the stimulus bill into law in Colorado on Tuesday, spending the night in Phoenix, Arizona before unveiling his plans to stem home foreclosures on Wednesday and then traveling to Canada on Thursday in his first trip abroad as president. Brain-training exercises ‘don’t delay dementia onset’

London, Feb 11 (ANI): There is no evidence to show that brain-training exercises can delay the onset of dementia in elderly people, says a new study.

The study, conducted by Peter Snyder, a US professor of clinical neurosciences, has warned that such games may in fact be damaging, for they reduce the amount of time older people spend on other activities such as exercise.

Games like Sudoku and number and word puzzles on Nintendo DS consoles used by many pensioners to give their grey matter a workout.

However, the new study found nothing to support claims they cured the likes of Alzheimer’s.

“Brain ageing products can be a financial drain and decrease participation in more proven lifestyle interventions, like exercise,” the Sun quoted Snyder, as saying. (ANI)

Winehouse sticks to dope to battle drug addiction!

London, February 7 (ANI): Amy Winehouse has reportedly been sticking cannabis joints – in her war against drug addiction.

The ‘Rehab’ hit maker, who has been holidaying in St. Lucia, was said to be puffing ten joints to overcome her yearning for class-A drugs, and getting back on a healthy track.

“Amy hasn’t touched crack or cocaine for months. She has been really good,” the Sun quoted a close friend as saying.

“Drugs are easy to get in St Lucia but she has just stuck to smoking dope.

“The amazing thing is she smokes all morning then sees her personal trainer in the afternoon and is put through a gruelling workout,” the friend added.

Meanwhile, Amy was also reported to be handing singing lessons to school kids near her villa, and had apparently left the headteacher aghast after turning up in a bra and scanty vest.

A source added: “They scrabbled around and found a spare PE kit for her to wear. Because she’s so tiny, it fit.” (ANI)

Regular three-minute workout bursts best for health

Washington, January 28 (ANI): A regular and intense three-minute workout can do wonders in boosting your metabolism, says a new study.

According to Professor James Timmons, who worked with a team of researchers from Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh, Scotland, brief high-intensity exercises repeated in every couple of days may significantly take down the risk of diabetes.

Timmons investigated the effect of ‘high-intensity interval training’ (HIT) on the metabolism of sixteen sedentary male participants, who used exercise bikes to perform a quick sprint at their highest possible intensity.

It was found that there was a significant effect on their body’s ability to process sugars.

He said, “The risk of developing cardiovascular disease and type two diabetes is substantially reduced through regular physical activity. Unfortunately, many people feel they simply don’t have the time to follow current exercise guidelines.

“What we have found is that doing a few intense muscle exercises, each lasting only about 30 seconds, dramatically improves your metabolism in just two weeks.”

He continued: “Current guidelines, with regards to designing exercise regimes to yield the best health outcomes, may not be optimal and certainly require further discussion.

“The low volume, high intensity training utilized in our study substantially improved both insulin action and glucose clearance in otherwise sedentary young males and this indicates that we do not yet fully appreciate the traditional connection between exercise and diabetes”.

He added: “This novel approach may help people to lead a healthier life, improve the future health of the population and save the health service millions of pounds simply by making it easier for people to find the time to exercise”.

The research was published in the open access journal BMC Endocrine Disorders.(ANI)

Here’s how Sarkozy’s female fitness trainer gave his sex appeal a boost

London, Jan 20 (ANI): Besides Carla Bruni, the only woman who sets Nicolas Sarkozy’s pulse racing is his personal trainer. Meet Julie Imperiali, the fitness coach of the French President who has helped him lose weight and look sleeker.

The 26-year-old Imperiali comes to give Sarkozy his workout, applying her patent method to make him stretch, sweat and run.

It’s with the help of the former dancer and gymnast that the President has earned the name “Speedy”.

In ten months, Imperiali has helped Sarkozy, a teetotal chocolate addict, to drop nearly 4kg and two trouser sizes, she proudly reveals.

“His body has radically changed. He is a dream pupil. He is always ready and motivated,” TimesOnline quoted her, as saying.

“Sexual relations are better if the male perineum is in good shape. The problems of premature ejaculation are often due to the perineum,” she says.

In a bid to reach a perfect body, she changed his eating habits and broke his evening chocolate consumption.

“He was un sportif, but he didn’t have the right methods. He used just to run and run and run without being aware of his body.

“We worked with a cardiometer and reworked his way of running. Now he runs faster and more solidly. He is doing about 10kph in the garden. I see him between two and four times a week.

“We run for 15 to 45 minutes then do muscle reinforcement and stretching. He doesn’t talk much about work. He needs to blow off the stress. We talk about everything and nothing, sometimes about intimate matters,” she revealed. (ANI)

Uma Thurman’s in-flight workout!

New York, Jan 19 (ANI): When it comes to workout, Uma Thurman makes no compromises – the super-fit actress was recently spotted practising dance moves and yoga poses when travelling by aeroplane.

The 38-year-old ‘Kill Bill’ star unbuckled her seat belt and started stretching during a flight from New York to Salt Lake City, Utah.

“She started doing yoga in the aisles. She used the flight-attendant station as a ballet barre, where she stretched and did pliĆ©s for 20 minutes,” the New York Post quoted a witness, as saying.

However, Thurman’s health consciousness seemed at odds with what she did next.

“After we left the plane, she ran for an exit and then chain-smoked like crazy,” the witness added. (ANI)

Madonna will never grow fat, says personal trainer

London, Jan 16 (ANI): Queen of pop Madonna still manages to look half her age even at 50, and it is all thanks to the rigorous diet and exercise regime her personal trainer Tracy Anderson has put her on.

Madge follows a gruelling two-hour workout six days a week, and Anderson, 33, remains at her side every moment of it.

The trainer had been helping the singer maintain her health even when she was divorcing her hubby Guy Ritchie.

“There are days when she doesn’t feel good and days when she’s having a hard time, but Madonna still works out for two hours whatever,” the Mirror quoted Anderson as saying.

“She’s consistent and she doesn’t ever make excuses. Nothing has changed since the divorce, Madonna hasn’t changed.

“Madonna will never look her age. She doesn’t even look half her age – she looks 19.

“I don’t have to scream at her because she’s so motivated. She organizes her time so she can train – she makes an appointment to do it and she keeps it, but two hours is the most she ever exercises in a day,” she stated.

Madonna was recently described as “half-starved” but Anderson claims that she eats well and even allows herself the occasional treat, which is sugar and gluten-free.

“All my clients eat. Madonna has a very healthy appetite. She doesn’t eat processed food, she’s very conscious of the quality of the things she eats but she has treats – she loves cupcakes,” she said.

“To say she is on a starvation diet is bull****. She burns a lot of calories.

“She will never get fat. Why would she let it go? She relaxes but she’s smart, she knows that if she stops exercising she will have loose skin tone. Why should we criticize someone who works hard, is consistent and gets results because they’re smart with their time?” she added. (ANI)
