Srinagar, Sep 4 (ANI): An ancient sculpture of Hindu Goddess of wealth Gajalakshmi has recently been discovered at Nagbal Lesser village in Jammu and Kashmir.
The sculpture, carved out of brownish limestone, is now kept for further examination at the office of Archives Archaeology and Museum in Srinagar. It will be shifted to Sri Pratap Singh Museum for public display later.
“As far as the object (sculpture) is concerned it is very important. According to our earlier examination, the statue dates back to the 6th or 7th century. It’s of brownish colour and from the perspective of craftsmanship, it is finely chiselled out,” said Khurshid Ahmad Qadri, Director, Archives Archaeology and Museums of Jammu and Kashmir.
The statue, measuring nine inches in height and five inches in width, is seated on the lotus throne placed between two lions. The main sculpture is enclosed in a stone frame, the top of which projects the shape of elephant motifs towards the head of the deity.
The idol holds a lotus in her right hand and cornucopia in her left hand. The other end of the drapery covering the lower body of the sculpture does not go behind its shoulder but is wrapped around in pleats beneath the chest of the deity.
The carving and costumes of the sculpture speak volumes about skilled craftsmanship of the ancient Kashmiri art.
“As far as its art is concerned, this art form connects it to the Gandhara School of Art. The Gandhara School of Art was founded in the first century BC. The theme cultivated by Gandhara artists later reached Kashmir. The costume we get to see in this sculpture shows a confluence of Greek and Indian art forms,” said Iqbal Ahmad, a historian.
This is the only sculpture found from the Lesser Kokernag area of Kashmir so far. However, the presence of pottery in an around the Lesser village reveals presence of some ancient settlements. By Afzal Bhat (ANI)

The Cable continues to show relative strength on the back of surprisingly positive data surfacing from Britain over the past couple weeks. The GBP/USD kept its cool yesterday despite the broad selloff in U. S. equities and the Cable is running with the EUR/USD and U. S. equities Wednesday morning.
We expect to see the Cable’s strength continue as long as Britain’s data outperforms and its major financial institutions stay out of the headlines. If U. S. equities and the EUR/USD head north today, the GBP/USD should follow. On the other hand, if U. S. equities selloff again, we may see the Cable hold up once more.
However, we can’t forget the importance of the financial industry to Britain’s economy. Therefore, if U. S. banks hit another roadblock, the GBP/USD may have no choice but to head lower. Speculation set aside, the Cable is in great shape for the time being. It sits comfortably above our 1st tie uptrend line with no downtrend line in sight.
On the other hand, the failure of the GBP/USD to eclipse February highs and 1.50 is a cause for concern, and we’ll keep this in mind. If the Cable can climb back above March highs today we could see a nice short-term pop.
Even though Britain is quite on the news front today, the Pound could come alive tomorrow with a PPI release coupled with a BOE rate decision. Analysts are expecting the BOE to hold the benchmark rate at .50%. Fundamentally, we maintain resistance of 1.4730 with additional resistances hanging at 1.4770, 1.4834, 1.4883 and 1.4946.
The 1.50 level serves as a key psychological barrier while the 1.45 area acts as a psychological cushion. To the downside, we hold our supports of 1.4676, 1.4612, 1.4571, 1.4538 and 1.4484. The GBP/USD is currently exchanging at 1.4702.

Prague – The fate of Czech Republic’s interim government, due to take the helm of the European Union and bring the country to October early elections, appeared uncertain Tuesday after two small parties refused to participate.
Two junior partners in Mirek Topolanek’s outgoing ruling coalition, the Christian Democrats and the Greens, balked late Monday at a deal their leaders forged with the two biggest parties and bitter rivals, Topolanek’s Civic Democrats and the opposition Social Democrats led by Jiri Paroubek.
The leaders of four of the five parties in parliament’s lower house agreed Sunday to form a caretaker technocrat cabinet chaired by statistician Jan Fischer that would govern until the snap polls to be held before October 15.
While the Christian Democrats said they still may back the new government if they like its programme, the Greens insist on new talks and want Topolanek’s cabinet to complete the country’s EU term.
The Czech Republic holds the six-month rotating EU presidency until June 30.
Analysts said that the small parties probably balked at the deal in a bid to improve their poor standing prior to the early polls.
The large rival parties continue to back the deal. It is unclear what the they would do if it falls through.
They could still agree on an interim technocrat cabinet, a grand coalition or a minority opposition-backed cabinet as they jointly control a safe majority of 149 seats in the lower house.
The future shape of the Czech EU presidency is also at stake. The interim cabinet would take over from Topolanek when appointed by President Vaclav Klaus, having 30 days to win a confidence vote in parliament.
Under the Sunday deal, the four party leaders wanted Klaus to appoint Fischer’s caretaker cabinet on May 9, which could provide outspoken EU critic Klaus with greater sway over the presidency’s last two months.
It remains unclear whether Klaus or Fischer would replace Topolanek in the post of the president of the EU Council, who would chair a regular top-level EU summit in Brussels planned June 18-19.
Klaus said in a radio interview on Monday that he is ready to play a greater role in the presidency if needed.
The Greens, who loathe Klaus over his doubts on whether global warming was man-made, said in their statement that they also removed support for the deal in an effort to foil chances of “the europhobic president” to preside over the 27-member bloc.
But their leader, outgoing Vice-Premier Martin Bursik, also added that they would return their backing if the Christian Democrats do, the Czech news agency CTK reported him as saying.
Topolanek’s three-party center-right cabinet has ruled as a caretaker since being forced to step down on April 26, following a lost vote of no-confidence in the lower house two days earlier, a result of domestic wrangling.
The cabinet’s term should have lasted until regular general elections in mid-2010. (dpa)

John Abraham’s ‘dostana’ with his gym is doing wonders these days. This ‘hottie’ is not just adding new female but males to his fan list every day.
The latest to join the gang are girlfriend-actor Bipasha Basu and two-film-old Neil Nitin Mukesh.
“John has a great body…in fact, one of the best in Bollywood. I love the way he works to maintain it and I wish he would flaunt it more often on-screen,” Bipasha said in a recent interview.
She even said John deserves all male and female attentions that he is getting.
“I would be seriously worried if women and gays didn’t drool over him. He deserves it,” Bips said.
On the other hand, Neil, who will be sharing screen with John in Yash Chopra’s NEW YORK , is all praises for his ‘hot bod’.
“John is blessed with the most beautiful body any man can ever have. My warning to all men out there is -if you don’t have a body like John Abraham, never show it off and keep wearing your shirt,” Neil said.
“Even I have decided not to open my shirt for a couple of years till I get into shape…and for that I have been consulting John on my workout regime regularly for quite some time now,” said Neil.

New Delhi, April 1 (IANS) India is in a better situation than any other country in the world when it comes to fiscal deficits and beating the slowdown, Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal said here Wednesday.
Speaking at a CNBC seminar on Impact of Polls on Markets, Sibal said: ‘I feel that we are in much better situation compared to other countries. We are still hiring. So things are much better as compared to the US.
‘I feel India will be growing somewhere between 6.5 to 7.1 percent,’ he added.
However, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley challenged Sibal. ‘There has been no significant decision made in the last four months, there has been no important meeting and, above all, no finance minister. So what is the government doing for the economy? They inherited a robust economy and what they left is this!’
Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader Sitaram Yechury added: ‘The government is talking about attracting foreign investment and investors. But what can beat the recession is generating domestic demand.
‘What kind of India shining and Bharat Nirman they are talking of when millions of people have lost their jobs, when the consumer prices are going up?’
Moving to the fiscal deficit, which is in excess of Rs.3.07 trillion or $61 billion from April 2008 to February 2009, Sibal did not think of it as a problem.
‘If you have to give fiscal packages, stimulus packages, there will be fiscal deficit,’ Sibal said.
Yechury too believed that preoccupation with reducing fiscal deficit will serve no purpose. ‘Pre-occupation with fiscal deficits during slowdown makes no sense and is not common sense. The best way is to monetise this deficit. About 10 percent of GDP should be spent on public investment,’ he said.
Earlier, terming the government’s projection of 11 percent fiscal deficit as ‘gross underestimation’, BJP leader Arun Shourie said: ‘Irrespective of whichever government comes to power after the Lok Sabha polls, the deficit will be 13-14 percent of GDP.’

Mumbai, Mar. 13 (ANI): Actor turned Congress MP Govinda has been accused of violating the Model Code of Conduct by the Election Commission for distributing money during Holi.
Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer Debashish Chakrabarty has ordered an inquiry into the incident in which Govinda allegedly distributed cash outside his Juhu residence on Wednesday.
“I have directed the returning officer Ashwini Joshi to find out whether the Model Code of Conduct has been violated by Govinda. Once the report is ready, it will be forwarded to the CEO,” Suburban Collector Vishwas Patil said.
The Bollywood comedian, however, defended himself by saying that distributing money during Holi has been a ritual of him for years.
“I really don’t know why such a big issue is being made out of this. This is a ritual I do every year. I donate money to the poor and needy, and these include eunuchs, poor people in my area and actors who are financially in a bad shape,” Govinda said.
Even during the 2004 elections, Govinda’s was accused of violating the Model Code of Conduct for using pictures of national personalities and saints during his campaign. (ANI)

London, Mar 13 (ANI): The sleepy town of Devon in South West England has once again been spooked, after an elderly lady discovered what are said to be the Devil’s footprints.
Jill Wade, a pensioner, found the hoof-like marks in the snow in her back garden in Woolsery, and they were a repetition of the first marks recorded in 1855.
“I couldn’t believe it – the footprints were in the shape of a cloven hoof. There were no other marks at all in the snow. I’d love to know what it was,” the Sun quoted her as saying.
Scientists from the Centre for Fortean Zoology inspected the prints, which were 5 inches long with a stride of between 11 and 17 inches.
The prints matched a mysterious 100-mile trail that was found in Devon 154 years ago, and blamed on Satan.
But the CFZ experts believe that both tracks could have been made by an animal, such as a deer.
They say that they will solve the riddle through further research. (ANI)

Washington, Mar 13 (ANI): Do you think that your newly bought lingerie doesn’t fit you well, or isn’t really sexier enough? Well, the solution to the problem lies in mathematics, according to Japanese researchers.he researchers have built a computerized 3D model of the female trunk that could help lingerie and other clothes designers make more sensuous, comfortable, and better fitting product ranges.
Kensuke Nakamura of Kyoto Institute of Technology and Takao Kurokawa of Osaka University said that identifying body shape components was critical for designing close-fitting products, whether underwear, everyday clothes, or safety garments.
However, conventional body measurements, photographic images, and silhouette do not provide complete three-dimensional data, with which modern designers could work to improve their products and tailor specific ranges to particular body shapes.
In fact, the study might also have implications for research into body image disorders and ergonomics.
During the study, the researchers developed a technique that allowed them to extract a woman’s body shape components from 3D data, and then tied that to a classification of trunk shapes.
For the study, the researchers closely observed the bodies of 560 Japanese women, aged from 19 to 63, using laser metrology to map “control points” at specific sites on the women’s trunks.
That allowed them to fit the above data to a generic 3D trunk model in the computer, and fit the control points to it to build up a database of body shapes, revealed the researchers.
The team later applied statistical analysis to the data employing principal component analysis and cluster analysis to classify trunk characteristics into five different types.
Each depends on slimness or otherwise, breast size and angle, neck type, and shoulder slope.
They obtained five classes of body shape that, according to them, represented the majority of trunk shape among Japanese women.
The researchers claim that their analysis will be helpful in producing clothes that fit better for size and shape, and in improving practical functional clothes used for body adjustment and posture improvement.
“We expect that the method will be applied to various customer groups and the results will be reflected in clothes design instead of the seat-of-the-pants approach of designers,” concluded the researchers. (ANI)

Imphal, March 12 (ANI): Thousands of youth turned up for recruitment rally in three districts of Thoubal, Imphal West, Imphal East and Bishnupur recently following a State Cabinet decision in Manipur to establish Village Defence Force (VDF) to protect villages from militants.
Villagers were quite enthusiastic on the organization of such a recruitment rally here. Youngsters coming to join the VDF responded despite threats of underground groups against joining the force.
“This step taken up by the Government is a good one. With the village Defence Force being set up, the villages can be protected from outsiders who terrorize us and we can also defend ourselves,” said Salman Khan, a hopeful at the rally. I am ready to sacrifice my life fighting them to protect our motherland. From my early childhood, I wanted to serve the country by joining the armed forces. There is turmoil in the state, I want to bring about a change by bringing in normalcy,” said H. Govinda Singh, anther hopeful at the rally. bout 3,000 youths turned up in Thoubal, 1,000 in Imphal West and 800 at Bishnupur district. There were 1,550 VDF personnel to be selected for the four valley districts of Manipur.
“Government has taken the decision, as policy decision that we need to augment the number of police personnel at the present situation because law and order situation in Manipur is not in a very good shape. So the government has a decision and in the four valley district, they have given direction to recruit village Defence forces to act and assist police department,” said Th. adheshyam Singh, Superintendent of Police, Imphal East
The VDF personnel would be given basic police training for a month after which they would be deployed along with the regular police personnel at the police stations and outposts.
An honorarium of Rs.3000 would be paid to them along with ration facilities. (ANI)

The former Brookside star was on a holiday with her fiancé Rob Tickle.
The 25-year-old, who got engaged with Tickle on the paradise island back in November, looked relaxed and happy as she waded in the sea wearing a teeny flesh-coloured bikini.
“You could see her coming a mile off. It was like The Human Torch was in town,” the News of the World quoted one holidaymaker, as saying.
“She could stand to lay off the tanning for a bit-but having said that, she is in incredible shape,” he added. (ANI)

London, Mar 7 (ANI): German supermodel Heidi Klum has blasted criticism of her weight by refusing to diet, insisting she has the perfect figure for the catwalk.
The Victoria Secret’s model was condemned by designer Wolfgang Joop last month for being “too heavy” to model.
However, the 35-year-old catwalk queen revealed that she has never been the type to diet- insisting that her kids and pop star hubby Seal are more than enough to keep her in shape.
“I was never a diet sort of person. But when I started to model, I knew already that I would have to watch what I ate and for example, stop eating wiener schnitzel (Austrian dish of fried veal),” the Daily Express quoted Klum as saying.
“My children are my best workout and I am of course also busy with my husband,” she added. (ANI)

London, Mar 7 (ANI): King of pop Michael Jackson has added 10 more dates to his comeback gig in London, it has emerged.
The extra dates, in addition to the 10 already confirmed by the singer recently, will be announced to fans soon, according to reports.
The move came after nearly a million people registered for tickets to fill the 20,000-capacity O2 arena at the former Millennium Dome.
According to reports, the website to register for pre-sale tickets is reporting 14,000 hits a minute.
“There is no question Jackson has still got what it takes. The fact that he has been away for so long has only added to the clamour for tickets,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.
Meanwhile friend and business manager Dr Tohme Tohme has spoken about the star’s planned comeback.
“He has come back to put an end to all the bulls**t rumours about his health. I think he has answered his critics,” he said.
“He is back to his old self – he’s fine, and couldn’t be in better shape. He was away for all this time because he was dedicating his life to his children and being a single parent. This is the reason he took a break from music.
“It was his idea to make a comeback because he misses his fans and his fans have missed him,” he added. (ANI)

Washington, March 5 (ANI): Engineers at Duke University, US, have found that microscopic particles of carbon known as buckyballs may be able to keep water pipes clear in the same way clot-busting drugs prevent arteries from clogging up.
The research team found that buckyballs hinder the ability of bacteria and other microorganisms to accumulate on the membranes used to filter water in treatment plants.
This attribute leads the researchers to believe that coating pipes and membranes with these nanoparticles may prove to be an effective strategy for addressing one of the major problems and costs of treating water.
“Just as plaque can build up inside arteries and reduce the flow of blood, bacteria and other microorganisms can over time attach and accumulate on water treatment membranes and along water pipes,” said So-Ryong Chae, post-doctoral fellow in Duke’s environmental and civil engineering department.
“As the bacteria build up on these surfaces, they attract other organic matter, creating a biofilm that slowly builds up over time,” Chae added.
According to Chae, “The results of our experiments in the laboratory indicate that buckyballs may be able to prevent this clogging, known as biofouling.”
The only other options to address biofouling are digging up the pipes and replacing the membranes, which can be expensive and inconvenient.
A buckyball, or C60, is one shape within the family of tiny carbon shapes known as fullerenes. They are named after Richard Buckminster Fuller, the inventor of the geodesic dome, since their shape resembles his famous structure.
The addition of buckyballs to treatment membranes had a two-fold effect.
First, treated membranes showed less bacterial attachment than non-treated membranes. After three days, the membranes treated with buckyballs had on average 20 colony forming units, the method by which bacterial colonies are counted.
“In contrast, the number of bacterial colonies on the untreated membrane was too numerous to count,” Chae said.
Chae also found that the presence of the buckyballs inhibited respiration, or the ability of the bacteria to use oxygen to fuel its activities.
“As the concentration of buckyballs increased, so did the inhibition of respiration,” Chae said. “This respiratory inhibition and anti-attachment suggests that this nanoparticle may be useful as an anti-fouling agent to prevent the biofouling of membranes or other surfaces,” he added. (ANI)

The troubled pop star, in the middle of a divorce with jailbird hubby Blake Fielder-Civil, reportedly answered the bell clad in just bikini bottoms as the delivery personnel arrived.
Meanwhile, Amy was also alleged to be turning to former Spice Girl Melanie Brown to shed the extra pounds piled during her St. Lucia holiday.

London, March 5 (ANI): Supermodel Helena Christensen has left everyone surprised by saying that she has never lived with a man, despite the fact that she was married to actor Norman Reedus for five years, and has romanced Hollywood stars Josh Hartnett and Leonardo DiCaprio as well as late rocker Michael Hutchence.
The former Miss Denmark said that it was only her nine-year-old son Mingus with whom she ever shared her home.
“I’ve never lived with anyone except my son,” the Daily Mail quotedher as telling InStyle magazine.
While replying to a question, the supermodel revealed that she did not even share a home with Reedus, the father of her child whom she wed in 1993.
“No, because my life is travel, so it just happened that way,” she said.
She even admitted that, at present, she would struggle to cohabitate with anyone else.
“It’s not like I set out to live like that, but now it would be a big thing to move in with somebody. I’m used to my own place, my own things.
“But you know, if I met the right person, I’m sure I’d be like, ‘Move in tomorrow, put your things everywhere.’ That would probably work for a while and then I’d need a bit of balance!” she added.
Asked whether she would like to have more children, she replied: “Oh yeah. Though it’s so amazing what I have. I look at my child and think, if me and his father could create this, what else could you create?”
Helena even said that she found herself to be in better shape at age 40 than she was at 25. (ANI)

Washington, Mar 4 (ANI): Wondering what your favourite stars do to stay in perfect shape despite their busy schedules? Well, here’s your chance to know about the fitness secrets of some of the biggest Hollywood hotties, and what better way to do that than by knowing it from the horse’s mouth itself.
Stars who thronged Leeza Gibbons’ “Night to Make A Difference” Oscar Viewing and After Party, have divulged the details of their workouts, and what they do to stay trim, and here’s what they had to say:
“I do a mixture of cardio and light weights using household items,” Fox News quoted Spice Girl Mel Brown as saying.
Scary Spice further said that she and Victoria Beckham were still BFFs and “talk all the time.”
On the other hand, music legend Olivia Newton-John’s fitness regime was quite exotic.
“I walked the Great Wall of China, it kept me in shape, I did it to raise money for my hospital last year,” she said.
Surprise performer Michael Buble revealed that he just played hockey, and the gym “isn’t his style.”
When it came to Teri Hatcher, she claimed that dieting was something she did not prefer.
And rocker Slash said that all he did to stay in shape was “wake up in the morning.”
However, Muhammad Ali’s ultra-athletic daughter Laila Ali was one girl who reported going to the toughest extreme to stay in shape.
“Sometimes I have to lose 10 lbs the week of a fight and it can be done, it’s a lot of water weight, but it’s taking water pills, getting in the sauna, not eating much, sweating it out, it’s not healthy,” she admitted.
Laila also claimed that she stayed away from alcohol and television.(ANI)

Wellington, Mar 3 (ANI): New Zealand batsman Grant Elliott is not worried over his lack of match practice before one-day series against India.
One of the stars of the Chappell-Hadlee series, Elliott, has not batted since the Twenty20 defeat to Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on February 15.
Five games were at his disposal, but he was made to rest, did not bat and suffered a washout with Wellington and then was 12th man for New Zealand’s two Twenty20 matches against India, Stuff.co.nz reported.
“I’m not worried by that. It was all Twenty20 cricket and you can lose a bit of shape playing that, so I’m ready to go,” he said after stroking the ball sweetly during practice at nets.
Elliott produced high quality knocks of against Australia of 61 not out in Melbourne and 115 in Sydney.
The century in Sydney was the first scored in a one-dayer by a New Zealand batsman at the SCG.
Elliott believes his improvement in the past couple of months is partly because of all the support at his disposal.
“You’ve got video footage, coaches and even players like Kyle saying little things. Guys are continually helping each other. It’s awesome to be in this environment and also pretty relaxing. In the last two Twenty20 games there has been such calmness in the changing room,” he said. (ANI)

Washington, March 3 (ANI): In a wholly unexpected and rare discovery, scientists have found the oldest brain in fossilized form in Kansas, US, which dates back to 300 million years.
The brain, found in a shale in Kansas and Oklahoma, belong to Iniopterygians, which are extinct relatives of modern ratfishes, also known as “ghost sharks” or chimaeras.
Chimaeras are obscure relatives of sharks and rays that were extensively described by Museum Curator Bashford Dean in 1906 and number about 40 species.
But, in the late Paleozoic, relatives of chimaeras were relatively common in the oceans of the world with a huge diversity of shapes and sizes, and iniopterygians were a bizarre part of this radiation.
The new discovery is described with several other intact braincases-the first three-dimensional fossils from this group of extinct marine fishes.
When Alan Pradel of the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris CAT scanned the 300-million-year-old fossilized iniopterygian from Kansas, he and his colleagues saw a symmetrical blob nestled within the braincase.
This turned out to be the oldest brain found in fossil form.
According to John Maisey, curator in the Division of Paleontology at the American Museum of Natural History and a co-author of the report, “Fossilized brains are unusual, and this is by far the oldest known example.”
The new research looked at four 3-dimensional braincases of iniopterygians found in shales from Kansas and Oklahoma.
The specimens share several features with living ratfishes, which means that these skull features have been conserved in the group for the last 300 million years.
Complete reconstructions of these skulls were made with a CAT scan and X-ray synchrotron microtomography, and the imaging of one skull showed a dense, symmetrical object sitting within the large braincase.
This was the mineralized brain.
The specimen that included the brain was imaged as a holtomography by Paul Tafforeau and colleagues at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility.
This more powerful scan brought the brain to light in great detail.
It is a tiny (about 1.5mm by 7 mm in size), symmetrical shape that sits within a large braincase. As in many lower vertebrates, the brains of these fish ceased to grow as their skulls continued to expand.
The brain has a large lobe for vision and an optic nerve that stretches to the correct place on the braincase; both of these features correlate well with the large eye sockets.
“There is nothing like this known today; it is really bizarre,” said Maisey.
“But now that we know that brains might be preserved in such ancient fossils, we can start looking for others,” he added. (ANI)

New Delhi, Mar 2 (ANI): Agitated over BJP leader L.K. Advani’s remarks blaming Congress of having acted against Dr. B R. Ambedkar at one time, the party on Monday chose to describe his statement as “complete ignorance of political history”.
“Advani alleged that the Congress was anti-Ambedkar and worked against Ambedkar. He also said the Congress is anti-low castes. If anybody who does not know history, such allegations would be termed as non-sense. A statement from a person, who is a prime ministerial candidate of a party, does not only show cheap politics but also reflects complete ignorance of political history,” said Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the Congress’s spokesman.
Questioning Advani’s awareness of history, Singhvi said the NDA’s prime ministerial candidate was not even aware of the stand taken by his own colleague Arun Shouries earlier in his book “Worshipping False Gods”.
“We would like to make a humble request to Advani that he should read a book, “Worshipping False Gods”, written by his own colleague Arun Shourie. He is unaware of history and has no knowledge of Ambedkar’s relations with Congress. He is unaware of the role played by Ambedkar and Congress in India’s freedom movement. He should at least have the knowledge of his colleague’s book,” Singhvi said.
On Sunday, Advani had accused the Congress of adopting tactics which “ensured” defeat of Dalit icon and architect of the Constitution, Bhimrao Ambedkar in post-Independence polls.
“After Independence, when the first government of the country was taking shape, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru gave priority to give berth only to Congressmen in it. But Gandhiji advised him to include scholar leaders like Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Ambedkar in the government,” Advani had stated in Gwalior during a public rally.
“Though Ambedkar was later made chairman of the committee formed for framing the Indian Constitution in which he had ensured that all sections of society are protected,” Advani had added. (ANI)
