London, Feb.28 (ANI): A footie wonderkid hailed as the “new Rooney” has found his “Coleen” in the sizzling shape of Hollyoaks babe Melissa Reeves.
And at 16, the beauty has become the Premier League’s youngest WAG, the Daily Star said.
Everton ace Jack Rodwell, 17, is set for stardom after wowing fans with his goal and all-round performance to help knock Aston Villa out of the FA Cup.
Pundits have compared the teenager to England hero Wayne, 23, who made his debut for Everton at 16 before moving to Manchester United.
And midfielder Jack is not just copying Wayne’s on-the-pitch heroics.
Like the United star, who married Coleen, 22, after meeting her on the streets of Liverpool where they grew up, Jack is reportedly smitten with his Scouse sweetheart Melissa.
The pair was pictured together for the first time earlier this week leaving the posh Gusto restaurant in Liverpool’s Albert Dock.
Pals have dubbed them the “new Rooneys” because their relationship mirrors Wayne and Coleen’s so closely.
Both couples met before any of them were famous. Jack and Wayne were both rising stars at Everton, while Melissa and Coleen were wannabe actresses.
While Wayne scored his first professional goal for the club five days before his 17th birthday, Jack did it aged just 17.
Jack has captained England Under 16s and is rated one of the hottest properties in the game, Wayne has gone on to win two Premier League titles and the Champions League after his 25 million pound switch to United.
A close pal of Melissa and Jack said last night: “They know their relationship is almost a mirror image of Wayne and Coleen’s. The similarities are staggering and they get a bit of stick from their pals. (ANI)

London, Feb.28 (ANI): England and Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney is desperate to get his hands on some silverware at the Wembley football stadium.
Rooney is aiming to fulfill a boyhood dream tomorrow by lifting a trophy at Wembley.
Ever since he went to the old Wembley as a nine-year-old Everton fan to see Joe Royle’s team beat United, he has wanted to get his hands on some silverware there.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Rooney and sportswear giant Nike are asking all players aged 16-24 to “Show Your Five” in a nationwide tournament.
Barclays Premier League stars will drop in to see the action from over 200 tournaments at Powerleagues in Manchester, Newcastle, London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Liverpool as each of the teams vie to be crowned their city’s top team.
Winners from each city will then go head-to-head at the national final for the title of Nike5 Champions. (ANI)

London, Feb 28 (ANI): The Queen’s granddaughter, Zara Phillips, recently had her handbag, which contained valuable jewellery, stolen from her car.
She had been shopping nearby, and on returning found that her Range Rover had been broken into by thieves, with her riding gear strewn on the road.
Phillips, 27, was “close to tears” when she saw her damaged car and found her jewellery and cash missing on February 26.
“Zara was shaken by the incident and was frantically searching for her handbag,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.
Her bag was later recovered from a hedge with her passport still in it.
“Police told her later that it was an opportunistic crime – but there is always a moment of fear that she has targeted,” the source stated.
The Met last night confirmed the theft, and revealed a member of the public handed in the bag.
“There are no security implications,” he added. (ANI)

London, Feb.28 (ANI): A watchdog in Britain has warned the country’s bureaucratic establishment to abstain from misusing controversial surveillance powers on the pretext of fighting terrorism and combat crime.
According to The Guardian, several civil servants have indulged in undercover “spying” operations that breach official guidelines.
Documents obtained under Freedom of Information show some government departments and agencies have used these powers incorrectly or without proper controls.
They also show that the official government watchdog has twice threatened to inform Prime Minister Gordon Brown about the serious abuses of powers under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA).
The watchdog highlighted how:
Officials at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) did not have proper authorisation when they went undercover posing as anglers to glean information about imported fish;
A manager responsible for authorising surveillance at the NHS anti-fraud agency routinely gave officials “carte blanche” in surveillance operations;
Tracking devices were attached to vehicles in a bid to monitor the disposal of waste, after the Environment Agency received apparently incorrect advice from the Home Office
Potential prosecutions were jeopardised because those conducting the surveillance operations were not properly trained and had not followed procedures
A large array of public bodies are also using surveillance powers, including the Charity Commission, Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the BBC.
The disclosures come amid mounting criticism of the expansion of state powers to spy on citizens.
The RIPA was introduced in 2000 to regulate surveillance carried out by public bodies to prevent crime, terrorism and protect public safety.
Local councils have been accused of going too far by “snooping” on people suspected of dog fouling, fly-tipping or fraudulently applying for a school place.
The Home Office minister Vernon Coaker has said some surveillance has been “inappropriate”, while Sir Simon Milton, chairman of the Local Government Association, wrote to every council in England last year urging them to cease using the powers for “trivial” matters. (ANI)

London, Feb.28 (ANI): Texas billionaire Sir Allen Stanford has placed himself in more hot water after being accused of carrying out a “massive Ponzi scheme” over at least a decade and misappropriating at least 1.6 billion dollars of investors’ money.
Sports promoter Stanford, 58, stands accused along with his former university roommate James Davis.
On Friday, according to The Sun, a Houston judge ruled that Laura Pendergest-Holt, the only person arrested in the eight billion dollar Allen Stanford fraud investigation, could walk free after she posted a 300,000 dollar bond. (ANI)

London, Feb.28 (ANI): Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has set up a company that will advise governments on ‘good governance’.
According to his spokesman, Tony Blair Associates, as the commercial partnership is called, has already signed up its first client, the Government of Kuwait, which is understood to have agreed a seven-figure deal for continuing advice from the former Prime Minister.
Blair is counselling the constitutional monarchy of the oil-rich state on “good governance”, according to his spokesman.
Critics, however, are likely to point out that Blair has no business dispatching advice on good governance because of his own questionable probity whilst in power.
Tony Blair Associates was set up earlier this month after Blair received the blessing of the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (ACOBA), the government watchdog that scrutinizes the paid employment of former ministers.
ACOBA said in a statement that Blair would provide, “in partnership with others, strategic advice on both a commercial and pro-bono basis, on political and economic trends and governmental reform”.
It added that the committee “sees no reason why he should not set up the firm forthwith”.
Blair is running his new consultancy from his extensive suite of offices in Grosvenor Square, central London, where he now employs 70 people to run his different ventures, including his private office, a religious charity and an Africa foundation.
His earnings from consultancy work will add to the 4.6 million pound advance he was paid for his memoirs, 2.5 million pounds from advisory roles with JP Morgan Chase and Zurich Financial Services and speaking fees of around 157,000 pounds per lecture, reports The Telegraph.
Blair also receives a taxpayer-funded pension of 63,468 pounds per year, plus an annual 84,000 pounds allowance to run his private office.
Sources close to Blair have disclosed that he has finally begun work on his memoirs, more than a year after negotiating his advance, and has so far written four chapters.
He is hoping to have the book ready before the next general election, when it will be published if the Conservatives win power.
Blair has previously said that he would not publish his book while Gordon Brown was still in power, but with Brown trailing in the opinion polls Blair, 55, wants to be ready to cash in on a Tory win.
Blair’s considerable earning power – which has outstripped that of former US President Bill Clinton – has enabled him to buy a string of luxurious homes, including a 5.75 million pound country house in Buckinghamshire, a 4.8 million pound home in Connaught Square, central London, a flat in Bristol and a 460,000 pound flat in Islington for his eldest son, Euan. London, Feb 28 (ANI): Cancer-stricken Jade Goody was experiencing terrifying hallucinations on the night of February 26, and was constantly screaming: “Where am I?”
The tragic star, who has terminal cancer, was “babbling incoherently” and “shaking like a leaf” all through the night.
While worried pals tried desperately to comfort her, Goody repeatedly cried out: “Where am I?”
However, the 27-year-old Big Brother star, who married sweetheart Jack Tweed in an emotional ceremony on February 22, finally calmed down after a district nurse was called for help.
According to her spokesman, the hallucinations were a side effect of Jade’s pain-killing medication.
Thus, Jade went to a hospice to have her dose altered.
“She had a terrible night on Thursday. Her nurse had adjusted her pain medication and it affected her badly,” the Sun quoted the spokesman as saying.
“She was frightened and having hallucinations. Everyone was scared, they didn’t know what to do.
“It was distressing as she was distraught and seemed to be imagining things, mumbling and calling out, ‘Where am I?’
“They spent a long time trying to calm her down. Jack did his best until he had to leave under the terms of his curfew,” she added. (ANI)

London, Feb 28 (ANI): A scientist has solved the ‘mystery’ behind belly button fluff after gazing at his own navel for three years!
Georg Steinhauser, a chemist, has discovered a type of body hair that traps stray pieces of lint and draws them into the navel.
After studying 503 pieces of fluff from his own belly button, the expert reached the conclusion.
Chemical analysis revealed the pieces of fluff were not solely composed of cotton from clothing.
Instead, wrapped up in the lint were dead pieces of skin, fat, sweat and dust.
Steinhauser’s observations showed that ’small pieces of fluff first form in the hair and then end up in the navel at the end of the day’.
Writing in the journal Medical Hypotheses, he said the scaly structure of the hair enhances the ‘abrasion of minuscule fibres from the shirt’ and directs the lint towards the belly button.
“The hair’s scales act like a kind of barbed hooks,” The Telegraph quoted him, as saying.
“Abdominal hair often seems to grow in concentric circles around the navel,” he added.
Steinhauser established that shaving one’s belly will result in a fluff-free navel – but only until the hairs grow back.
Steinhauser said: “The question of the nature of navel fluff seems to concern more people than one would think at first glance.
“We hope we have been able to provide information for doctors when they are next confronted with the simple question of ‘why some belly buttons collect so much lint and others do not’.” (ANI)

London, Feb 28 (ANI): U2 frontman Bono reportedly shocked Radio listeners when he called Coldplay singer Chris Martin a “w****r” during a live programme on February 27.
Bono, real name Paul David Hewson, also called Martin “a cretin”.
He said that Martin was “dysfunctional”, as the band went on Live Lounge to chat between songs.
DJ Jo Whiley, 43, was shocked herself with the ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’ singer’s outburst and asked him to apologize, in turn the 48-year-old Irish singer blamed his language on it being “early” in the day even though it was almost noon.
The outburst came out after Whiley reminded Bono that he had recently rated Martin, 31, alongside Paul McCartney.
“He’s a w****r,” the Sun quoted him as replying.
He was asked to apologize for swearing and he did so, but could not help himself from commenting further.
“Obviously he is a completely dysfunctional character and a cretin but he happens to be a genius melodist,” he added with a giggle.
The BBC last night apologised “for any offence caused”. (ANI)

London, Feb 28 (ANI): Poetry’s grassroots scene is growing, all thanks to the Internet, say writers themselves.echnologies like email, social networking sites such as Facebook and online media players are helping poets reach new audiences.
Richard Smith, a published poet who is also head of modern collections at the British Library, said that computers are helping poetry, reports The Telegraph.
He said: “What’s interesting is its counter-intuitive. You would have thought that poetry and pamphlets would be failing in the face of the internet, but that isn’t happening.”
He argued: “It’s very like the relationship between the net and live music.
“It’s perfectly possible to make music records fairly cheaply, put them up on the net and that’s it.
“You would expect live music to disappear but it hasn’t, the opposite has happened.”
He went on: “At a basic level the net helps to build email lists, but more importantly you can build all kinds of social networks.”
Poetry reading groups – known as “series” – are becoming stronger thanks to the growth of online communities to back them up, he said.
“These reading series often have Facebook groups around them. The net is helping smaller networks get together across the country so there’s now more sense of solidarity between them,” he added. (ANI)

London, Feb 28 (ANI): Rumours about actress Lindsay Lohan and her girlfriend Samantha Ronson not getting along were put to rest on a trans-Atlantic flight, when the two made a public display of their affection.
The two were on a Virgin Atlantic flight from Los Angeles to London, and passengers on board witnessed their antics through most of the 10-hour flight, reports the Mirror.
They were seen kissing, cuddling and giggling with one another, and at one point 22-year-old Lohan was seen texting sweet nothings to DJ Ronson on her in-flight entertainment handset, even though they were sitting just eight inches apart.
The pair even stunned an elderly couple celebrating their 44th wedding anniversary, when Lohan gave 30-year-old Ronson a passionate kiss, before they went to the minuscule cabin loo to change into matching black sleep suits.
Both even ordered identical onboard meals of beef bourguignon followed by a cheese board, and then LiLo got stuck into two large glasses of Jelu Pinot Noir before finally deciding to settle down for a nap and pulling out her reclining bed. (ANI)

London, Feb.28 (ANI): The Obama administration in the United States may be taking steps to streamline the outsourcing process, but no such qualms, it seems, exist across the Atlantic in Britain.
The National Rail Enquiries is shunting British call centre jobs to India to save cash, reports The Sun.
Around 70 positions could be outsourced.
The number is run by the Association of Train Operating Companies – and handles nearly a million calls a month.
Mumbai staff would now handle over 70 per cent of calls, the ATOC said.
Workers at the centre in Wath-upon-Dearne, South Yorks, were told of the news on Thursday.
The ATOC spokesman said nearly Indian workers currently took half of all calls.
He said: “Our monitoring shows levels of customer satisfaction are the same for both the call centres. We can achieve significant savings through this rebalancing and it makes sense to do so.” (ANI)

London, Feb.28 (ANI): TATA-owned Jaguar Land Rover yesterday signed a “very significant” order to supply 13,000 vehicles to China.
The vehicles will be supplied over a three-year period, The Sun reports.
The news is a huge boost for the company – which employs thousands of workers in the UK at sites including Castle Bromwich and Solihull in the West Midlands and Halewood, Merseyside.
Yesterday the car firm said sales in China have been “growing rapidly” in recent years and the country had already become established as its fifth largest market in the world.
Bosses have signed an agreement called a memorandum of understanding with a business partner in the Far East.
They called it a “solid base” to build on in a “key emerging market”.
A spokesman added: “It is particularly welcomed at this challenging time for us and the automotive industry.”
The sale to China comes days after it was announced that a deal to save hundreds of jobs at the TATA-owned carmaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is on the anvil.
According to Sky News, the deal with the unions should save JLR 60 million pounds.
Staff at the firm has been voting on proposals to cut their hours and freeze pay in exchange for the guarantee of no compulsory redundancies for two years.
Under the deal, workers would work a four-day week, with hours cut from 35 hours to 32. They would also give up bonuses and have their pay frozen until October 2010.
The proposals have been hammered out between the unions and Jaguar Land Rover bosses.
“We”re very clear about what our requests are and we”ll see what response we get at that time,” Jaguar boss David Smith was quoted, as saying.
Some workers voted on Monday on the proposals – others were voting on Tuesday – and the result is due to be announced on Thursday.
Union bosses told Sky News they are confident staff will back the deal.
JLR is based in Gaydon, Warwickshire, and employs about 15,000 people in Castle Bromwich, Coventry, Solihull, and Halewood in Merseyside.
Jaguar cut 450 jobs in January and like other carmakers has held production suspensions. (ANI)

London, Feb 28 (ANI): Tragic star Jade Goody recently shouted at a neighbour saying “I’ll be dead in a month,” after she had a fight with him over a shared gate.
The 27-year-old star, who has terminal cancer, snapped at the neighbour in Upshire, Essex, in a row that erupted while she was leaving with hubby Jack Tweed to visit a hospice.
It was the first time that the Big Brother star had been out since her Feb 22 marriage with Jack, 21.
She had been bedridden since the moving ceremony, which left her exhausted and in agony.
Jade was carrying her morphine drip with her and dropped it during the row with the neighbour.
“Chill out – I’m gonna be dead in a month,” The Sun quoted her as screaming at the neighbour:
Jack picked up her lollipop containg ‘pain relievers’ and handed it to Jade, after which she collapsed in tears and sat sobbing in the back of the silver Mercedes on her drive.
The incident happened when Jack and two friends were helping Jade out of her home.
A witness said: “As Jade slowly made her way to the car she looked in a lot of pain. This man shouted something and she went mad and started screaming at him.
“He and Jade share a gate that he often has to go and close after people have left her house.”
After the wedding, Macmillan nurses and Jade’s doctor have been struggling to bring her appalling pain under control.
Jade is to spend two nights at the hospice in a “trial run”. (ANI)

London, Feb 28 (ANI): ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ child star Azharuddin had a rather painful homecoming after attending the Oscars, for the boy was beaten up by his father just because he wanted to have some rest.
Mohammed Ismail slapped and kicked his 10-year-old son in front of shocked neighbours and passers-by soon after he flew back to India from Los Angeles, where he and his other young co-stars watched as their movie picked up eight Oscars.
Azharuddin, who plays young hero Jamal, got tears in the eyes and ran back inside his home, cowering and begging his father to stop while trying to hide in a corner.
The young star had been given the day off school after his long flight and wanted to take rest, but his father wanted to show him off outside their home.
And when the boy didn’t agree, the 45-year-old father, who is hoping his son could be his ticket to get out of Mumbai’s Dharavi slum, launched his attack while his mother pleaded Ismail to stop.
“Azharuddin’s father was upset that he was asking to be left alone because he was so tired. He didn’t attend school today so that he could recover from his long flight from LA and simply wanted all the attention to stop. However, when Azharuddin put his foot down and said that was it and there was to be no more talking, Ismail just flipped,” the Sun quoted one stunned onlooker as saying.
However, Azharuddin’s return to the slums was another picture altogether when his father had lifted him up and paraded him like a trophy.
Just a few hours after the attack, TB patient Ismail apologised for the attack, saying: “I was very sorry I did what I did. I was confused and stressed by my son’s homecoming and I did not know myself for a minute. I love my boy and I am very happy to have him home.” (ANI)

London, Feb 28 (ANI): Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson are firmly back together and planning to take their relationship to the next level – by starting a family.
Owen tried to kill himself after they split in 2007, but has now put the past behind him and is ready to settle down, reports The Sun.
A pal of the Wedding Crashers actor said: “Kate and Owen initially got back together three months ago after realising they couldn’t live without each other. Now they are ready to become parents.
“Kate has been desperate for a brother or sister for Ryder – her first child with ex-husband Chris Robinson – for some time.
“It was a stumbling block previously with Owen. He’s always had a difficult time committing, but this time it’s different.
“Kate was with him throughout his recovery and that made Owen realise how much he loves her.
“They’ve discussed the idea of becoming parents at length and Kate has seen a change in Owen.

Apparently the ‘Meet Dave’ actor has given up his usual fee of 25 million dollars to take on the role of his idol.
Oscar-winning writer Bill Condon is reportedly involved in the project, reports The Sun.
Richard, who starred in See No Evil, Hear No Evil, battled drug addiction before suffering a fatal heart attack in 2005. He was 65.
He infamously set himself on fire in 1980 following a cocaine and booze binge.
The comedian later used the tale into his stand-up routine by waving a lit match and saying: “What’s this? It’s Richard Pryor running down the street.”(ANI)
