Chittagong: India clinched the first cricket Test against Bangladesh with an emphatic 113-run victory to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, despite a rollicking century by wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim that delayed the inevitable.
The Indians, who needed to pick up eight wickets on the last day, took just about two sessions to wrap up the game and make amends for their disappointing batting show in the first innings.
Chasing an improbable 415-run victory target, the hosts resumed on 67 for two and rode on Rahim’s gutsy 101 and Tamim Iqbal’s gritty 52 before folding for 301 in 75.2 overs.
Amit Mishra (4/92), Ishant Sharma (3/48), and Zaheer Khan (2/90) struck at regular intervals to bowl out the hosts at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
The baby-faced Rahim threw his bat at everything hurled at him but that was merely a desperate attempt by a number seven batsman to delay the inevitable.
The diminutive stumper-batsman took 112 balls to hit his maiden Test ton – also the fastest by a Bangladeshi batsman – and was the last man out. Both the team now moves to Mirpur for the last Test starting on Sunday.
Rahim, who came in just before lunch when his side were 135 for five, took the Indian attack by the scruff of its neck, hitting 17 fours and a six.
With this win, India maintained their unbeaten record in Bangladesh. They have now won five out of six matches in Bangladesh, including a drawn Test in 2007.
The Test, which began with a war of words between the two sides after India’s stand-in captain Virender Sehwag had described the hosts as an ordinary side, was also a memorable one for opening batsman Gautam Gambhir who became the only fourth batsman to have scored five successive Test tons.
Sachin Tendulkar also reached the milestone of becoming the only player to score 13,000 Test runs by notching up his 44th hundred, which also earned him Man of the Match award.
An Indian batting collapse on the opening day of the weather-hit match provided some excitement but the Test ultimately ended on expected lines with the visitors scripting a comfortable win.
Chasing a stiff 415, Bangladesh needed 348 from the final day and once they were 136 for five at lunch any hopes of an improbable win had evaporated. Wickets fell at regular intervals with the Indian bowlers applying pressure all day with some impressive show till came the tail.
Using the early movement of the ball due to foggy conditions, Ishant struck twice in the first hour conceding just 11 runs from his seven-over uninterrupted spell to give his side the stranglehold in the Test.
Ishant first removed key batsman Mohammad Ashraful (27) in the fourth over of the day with Rahul Dravid taking a fine catch at the second slip. Bangladesh were 94 for four soon with Ishant striking again in his sixth over, trapping Raqibul Hossain LBW.
Sehwag introduced himself in place of S Sreesanth and immediately removed Tamim Iqbal to reduce Bangladesh to 135 for five. Overnight batsman Tamim went for an unnecessary slash off a Sehwag delivery which shaped away after pitching on the off and the thick edge went straight to Dravid’s safe hands at slip. Tamim, who who resumed the day on 23, faced 122 balls and hit six boundaries in his 52.
Bangladesh, who resumed the post-lunch session on 136 for five, showed no intention of digging their heel and trying to save the match. Captain Shakib Al Hasan perished in the third over after lunch, foxed by an Amit Mishra googly which took the shoulder of his blade for Sehwag to take a head-high catch at silly point.
Mahmadullah (20) hit two fours in the same over of Zaheer Khan but the veteran Indian bowler had the last laugh as he removed the batsman in his next over with wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik collecting the faint edge. Mishra struck twice in quick time to remove Shahadat Hossain (24) and Shafiul Islam (8) before he went on to end Rahim’s heroics.

Oslo (Norway), Aug.19 (ANI): Pakistan’s Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Qamar Zaman Kaira, today said that neither his country nor the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party would compromise with India on the Kashmir issue.
Kaira, who is also Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister, expressed these views in a meeting with Sardar Ali Shahnawaz Khan, advisor to chairman of Christian Democratic Party in Oslo, Norway.
Kaira said that Pakistan is ready for dialogue with India for a peaceful solution of the Kashmir issue, but added that Islamabad would only accept a solution that was acceptable to all Kashmiris.
Pakistan, he said, has not shied away from taking up the Kashmir issue at the diplomatic level. He said President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had raised the Kashmir issue at all international forums.
According to the Dawn, he asked Shah Nawaz to urge New Delhi to start serious talk on Kashmir.
The Kashmir conflict refers to the territorial dispute over Kashmir, the northwesternmost region of the Indian subcontinent. The parties to the dispute are India, Pakistan, China and the people of Kashmir.
India claims the entire former Dogra princely state of Jammu and Kashmir and presently administers approximately 43 percent of the region including most of Jammu, Kashmir Valley, Ladakh and the Siachen Glacier. India’s claim is contested by Pakistan which controls approximately 37 percent of Kashmir, mainly Azad Kashmir and the northern areas of Gilgit and Baltistan. In addition, China controls 20 percent of Kashmir including Aksai Chin which it occupied following the brief Sino-Indian War of 1962 and the Trans-Karakoram Tract, also known as the Shaksam Valley, that was ceded to it by Pakistan in 1963.
India’s official position is that Kashmir is an “integral part” of India. Pakistan’s official position is that Kashmir is a disputed territory whose final status must be determined by the people of Kashmir. Certain Kashmiri independence groups believe that Kashmir should be independent of both India and Pakistan.
India and Pakistan have fought three wars over Kashmir: in 1947, 1965, and 1999. India and China have clashed once, in 1962 over Aksai Chin as well as the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. India and Pakistan have also been involved in several skirmishes over Siachen Glacier.
The Kashmir dispute has been a part of UN deliberations since 1948. Pakistan has demanded that the dispute be resolved as per the UN resolutions of 1948 and 1949. India, however, maintains that the these resolutions are being wrongly interpreted by Islamabad. (ANI)

Mumbai, Aug 17(ANI): In an innovative method of film promotion star cast of ‘Life Partner’ on Monday opted to sell tickets of the film at the ticket counter of a theatre in Mumbai.
It was an unusual sight for the movie buffs, who noticed Fardeen Khan, Tushhar kapoor, Prachi Desai and Genelia D’souza selling tickets at the ticket counter for their movie at the Gaiety theatre.
Due to swine flu scare, the Maharashtra Government had declared closure of all the theatres and multiplexes for three days and the release of movies like ‘Life Partner’ and ‘Kaminey’ was postponed from the scheduled Friday to Monday.
‘Life Partner’ producer Abbas of the Abbas-Mastan duo said that although they would have incurred loses due to the deferred release, they were still hopeful of making profit.
“Whatever response we received today from the public, it seems although we cannot incur the losses we had in these three crucial days, but I am sure we will manage to recover slowly,” said Abbas.
As soon as the news spread, chaos prevailed at the ticket counters with the fans trying to catch a glimpse of these and buy tickets from them.
Tusshar Kapoor said that as their film received good collections in other cities, they wanted the same from Mumbai.
“It has been written in the history of Bollywood that if the film is reported as flop, then even if Saturday is a major holiday, people will never go to watch it. The collections of our film almost tripled in few cities after it released. That is why we are here so that people of Mumbai can make our film equally successful like other cities,” said Tusshar Kapoor.
Scripted and Directed by Rumy Jaffery it is a romantic comedy and has Govinda in the lead. It is the story of two couples struggling with their life partners and lovers. (ANI)

London, Aug 13 (ANI): A five year-old obese Indian girl, who is suffering from a suspected hormonal imbalance, is eating herself to death.
Suman Khatun, from West Bengal, is so insatiably hungry that she devours over 10 kilograms of rice, 24 eggs, six litres of milk and five kilos of potatoes in just a week.
Despite being only three and half feet tall, Suman’s weighs in at almost 12 stone.
Her parents, who earn just 6 pounds a week, are struggling to meet their daughter’s demands.
“We can not feed ourselves or our other two children, let alone ourselves,” the Telegraph quoted Suman’s mother Belly Bibi, 33, a saying.
“When she is not fed she cries, shouts, screams and has even thrown rocks at us.
“We give her four square meals a day and two small lunches, but this is never enough.
“She is our daughter and we have no choice but to feed her,” she added.
Suman’s hunger even leads her to sneak out and pester her neighbours for food in the village of Metiala.
Neighbours say that also expect a daily knock on the door from her.
Faruq Khan said: “Every day we open our doors to a smiling Suman.”
“She comes to play with our daughter, but always ends up asking for biscuits or some roti (Indian bread).”
“It is no trouble at all for us, but it is difficult for her parents,” Khan added.
Suman’s family has been unable to afford to travel to Calcutta for expert medical treatment because of their daughter’s appetite.
“We have relied on the local doctor here who believes that Suman suffers from a hormonal problem,” Suman’s father Jalal Khan, 37, said.
“We are desperate to get her help, because we worry for Suman’s health, which is not good,” Jalal added.
Suman struggles to walk as she suffers from severe respiratory problems. (ANI)

New Delhi, April 28 (IANS) Mourning the death of veteran actor Feroz Khan, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan says that despite several attempts in the past the two could not work together.
‘There were many attempts by both of us to work together but somehow it didn’t work out,’ Amitabh posted on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com.
‘He will be remembered for his passion and commitment to the craft. May his soul rest in peace and may the Almighty give his family strength to bear the loss,’ he added.
The flamboyant actor-filmmaker died Sunday at his farmhouse in Bangalore after battling cancer for a year. He was 69.
Amitabh describes Feroz Khan, who made hits like ‘Dharmatma’ and ‘Qurbani’, as a flamboyant filmmaker.
‘A flamboyant filmmaker, one that in the middle of his acting career became a producer and director and gave us some very memorable films – all with a certain stamp of flamboyance.
‘What he displayed in his persona, reflected in the way he made his films. In many ways, he pioneered a certain flash and sophistication in his very first venture as a maker and that remained with him and all his films throughout,’ he wrote.
Amitabh also pointed out that Feroz Khan always had a ‘progressive and visible difference in the way he functioned’ including the ‘content of the subjects he chose, in the unique casting that he did or in the fresh talent that he introduced in music and presentation’.
Amitabh recalled the recent Stardust award function where Feroz Khan was given the Stardust Pride of the Industry award.
‘In a most poignant moment, his son Fardeen had received it on his behalf from Jaya (Bachchan) on stage – Feroz being too ill to be present,’ he added.

It indeed is ironic that Akshay Kumar who is one of the stars who has popularized Jeans as an attire and symbolizing youth is being tormented reportedly for an obscene gesture while promoting a new brand of Jeans. In fact Jeans as attire had a late debut in the Hindi films but after it got an endorsement from our film stars it became the attire symbolic of youth and energy.
It was the advent of Jeans that led to development of notion of health conscious and to have a toned body. It also had its rub-off effect on the female actors as well, and if a fault line were to be discerned that really swayed a nation in a big way and pushed it on to a journey of Jeans discovery, the campaign of Coke involving Aishwarya Rai could be one such fault line. Dressed simply in a white shirt and Jeans she apart from swaying Aamir Khan off his feet was able to literally swoon the whole country as well.
From the previous generation it was in SHOLAY that Jeans made its debut in a big way as attire that had element of rebel and exuberance of youth written on it, and it got manifest in the characters portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. As a matter of fact in SHOLAY for the first time probably in Hindi cinema, Big B had packaged a pair of Jeans with a Black shirt and it became a fashion statement.
As the generational shift acquired its mooring, Jeans slowly weeded out hose pipe pants and flaring bell bottoms, and it became the fabric which defined the chutzpah of the character. In ANDHA KANNON after a long time Amitabh Bachchan had returned to Jeans in a big way, and again the element of casual that he had brought to his character of Jaanisaar Khan got manifested in a big way through Jeans as well.
The generation of Big B probably did not patronize Jeans in a big way owing probably to the fact that this generation was at the cusp of nationalism, where Jeans still was considered as western attire.
But as the new generation made its debut in Hindi cinema, brought on the profuse dozes of Abba, BoneyM, Pink Floyd and Woodstock, Jeans came to make their presence felt in a big way in the world of Hindi cinema. The same kind of paradigm shift was noticed in case of the female actors as well, and experimentation with Jeans as an attire by the female actors also allowed them to experiment with their looks as well. If there was one film that can be considered as a film that promoted Jeans in a big way it was JAANBAAZ and it can always be a matter of debate whether Dimple Kapadia looked more beautiful in a Jeans in JAANBAAZ or in SAAGAR. Jury would go in favor of JAANBAAZ. Incidentally, Feroze Khan can be considered as the father figure of Jeans in Indian films, as right from the time when he made DHARMATAMA, followed by QUARBANI and YALGAAR, to JANBAAZ, his films are a living tribute to the humble Jeans in its most alluring manifestations.
It is a tribute to the fascination of Jeans that a film by name of JEANS was made in Hindi and the female character in this film was enacted by Aishwarya Rai sheer coincidence or fortuitousness, decision is left to sail in the wind. Even a song was written on Jeans epitomizing its association with youth, “Purani Jeans Aur Guitar”…
Jeans as it represents youth, the sense of aghast that is being experienced by the purists, may be condoned as an indulgence and exuberance of youth and nothing else.
Jeans represents youth and youth is allowed to err sometimes, but the magnanimity of the elders is to condone it and allow moving on.

It had to happen, and it has happened. When there are three famous Bollywood stars that are franchisee owners of three of the main teams in the IPL, i.e. Shah Rukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta, a convergence between the films and cricket had to be arrived. And it has arrived. These three super stars have decided that they would be on the hunt for a new Bollywood starlet from amongst the spectators who come to watch the matches of the IPL.
This decision would really send the camerapersons covering the IPL matches in South Africa into a tizzy, as there would be a load of glamour and oomph on display with loads of attitude and array of designer ware. After all, when would the pretty girls from South Africa be they of the Indian origin or the South African origin get a chance to act in a film in Bollywood. As it is South Africa is a venue, which has been quite popular with our Hindi film industry as a preferred locale, and Sanjay Dutt is a star that is the most popular of the Indian film stars in South Africa.
These three stars would have a lot of watching to do, and they have not retracted, but have decided to watch all the matches to find out that elusive face. After all, who does not want to unleash one’s own discovery into the world of Hindi cinema, a protege always warms the cockles of the heart. The person who would be finally selected would be entitled to a role in a Hindi film, 50000 Rands in cash, a business class trip to India and a whole truckload of other prizes. The whole idea behind going in for searches of these kinds is to get a fresh face without the trappings of grooming for a space in Bollywood.
The focus of the search of the face would be to find out if it has an attitude and appearance and the arena of the cricket ground has been chosen as it would indeed be difficult to maintain a demeanor through out a match and natural expression would come into play, and it is this natural expression that would even mesmerize a stranger is being aspired for, through this quest. The trio would select 50 winners from each one of the eight venues hosting IPL matches in South Africa. Those who emerge winner would be shown on the big screen during the second five-minute break.
Each venue would have one finalist, so in all there would be eight finalists from whom one lucky person would be selected and honored at the final match in the Wanderers in Johannesburg on 24 May 2009.
Wonder why services of Mandira Bedi are not being requisitioned for this endeavor, as she literally hangs out amongst the crowd with her mike in hand?

It seems the quota of worries for the creative director of widely acclaimed film TAARE ZAMEEN PAR is not over. Amole Gupte, who had written TZP, is now facing problems finding a big star for his next film SAPNO KO GINTE GINTE
Amole, who is responsible for writing the much appreciated plotline of TZP, is finding it hard to convince a big star to do his film. The film which is on the lines of his earlier script assumes importance since Amole will don the director’s hat for the first time.
Amole was earlier scheduled to direct TAARE ZAMEEN PAR but was later replaced by producer Aamir Khan when he decided to act and direct the film himself. Many have seen this as the precursor of the fallout between Aamir and him.
Now, waiting for his next film to take-off, Amole maintains, ”I am waiting for a big star to agree to do my film. Unless that happens, I cannot go ahead with my project.”
Well, for now the master craftsman may not be writing, but he’s for sure enjoying his cameo act in Vishal Bharadwaj’s upcoming film KAMINEY.

As we put on our TV sets to watch the IPL season 2’s matches of Shah Rukh Khan owned Kolkata Knight Riders team we can also see SRK’s two kids Aryan (11) and Suhana (8) cheering for their team in South Africa. And it is learnt that they have been given special exemption to attend these matches and bunk the special classes of their school – Dhirubhai Ambani School in Mumbai.
Our source reveals, ”Last IPL, King Khan’s children, especially son Aryan was a regular feature in most of the KKR matches. But since the matches were held in India it was easily possible for the superstar dad to take them to the match venues. This year as the venue has shifted to South Africa, it seemed difficult that SRK would manage to take them along. Also since their school was holding special classes delaying their summer vacation. But Shah Rukh apparently applied for a permission and the school gave his kids five days of holiday as a special case.”

His debut venture KAL KISSNE DEKHA is yet to be released but Jackky Bhagnani has already started working on his next film. To be kick started after the release of his first film which is being pitched as a ‘romantic musical thriller’, Jackky’s next film will belong to the same genre (romantic musical comedy) as JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA and warrant a similar characterization and narrative.
The film would yet again be produced by his father Vashu Bhagnani and initial work on casting has already begun.
Says a source from the production team, ”Jackky has just started off as a lead hero and he wants to work in films that are young and energetic. Moreover, he wants to be looked as someone who belongs to the youth and is one of them. He doesn’t want to distance himself from his target audience i.e. youth by being aloof and unapproachable.”
This is the reason why a worldwide contest has been launched where youngsters can approach the production house and get lucky by being selected in the project.
Confirms the man of the moment, Jackky Bhagnani, ”Yes, we are launching our next film on a big scale. It will be having all the ingredients of a young entertainer and will be on the lines of JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA. I loved the film for its simplicity. Also, the very fact that each of the characters in the film was so identifiable and real is what makes me love it even more.”
There is good news for at least five newcomers as the film is looking at introducing three boys and two girls (all Indian though) from across the world. Jackky will of course head the cast while the leading lady opposite him is yet to be finalized.
Considering the fact that JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA was not just centered on Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza but a horde of other friends as well, how much of opportunity can youngsters expect in Jackky’s film?
”At least the same if not more”, promptly says Jackky, ”Yet again, each of these five youngsters will also be an important part of the film. The focus will definitely not just be on me. We are looking at a wide scale search for these young newcomers.”
Vaishali Desai is the leading lady who makes her debut with KAL KISSNE DEKHA that also stars veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. Incidentally, the campus setting warrants a horde of youngsters in this film as well like Akshay Kapoor, Bhairavi Goswami, Kunal Kumar, Rachna Shah and Nushrat Bharucha.

The first quarter of the year 2009 will go down as one of the worst in Bollywood history, what with majority of films biting the dust and the unending tussle between the producers-distributors and the multiplexes, which has added to the woe. Multiplex owners who had hoped that the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) matches would bring in some revenues were disappointed as they were not given the rights to telecast the matches.
For Bollywood too, the first two days of the Indian Premier League has turned out to be very disheartening (unlike last year) with bad luck continuing to haunt them here as well.
All those who are still confused, Bollywood is represented by famous and glamorous personalities like Shilpa Shetty, Preity Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan, all of whom are the owners of three different teams. To cut a long story short, new entrant Shilpa Shetty’s Rajasthan Royals (last year’s winner), Preity Zinta’s Kings XI Punjab and Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders have all lost to their opponents in their opening matches.
However, these are early days and here is wishing for a resounding comeback for Bollywood, both on the cricket pitch as well as the box-office!

Dia Mirza is basking in male attention and she is ‘loving it’.
After returning from a 45-day shoot from Hyderabad for ACID FACTORY Dia is all praises for her six co-actors.
”I enjoyed all the attention of my six male co-stars-Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Danny Denzongpa, Fardeen Khan, Irrfan Khan and Manoj Bajpai
during the shoot. After all, six men to woo a single woman is not a trifle matter,” Dia told a weekly magazine.
Asked if she would enjoy the same attention from six men in real life, the actor said: ”It will be fun!”
However, Dia has no problems in wooing her man if situation demands.
”I would love to chase a man who won’t pay me attention. I will literally dance to his tunes till he doesn’t tell me the reason for his actions,” smiled Dia

UAE’s integrated telecom provider, du, announced the launch of its ‘Elite Plan’ for mobile users, and in order to promote the same appointed four brand ambassadors headed by our own, Bollywood’s Global superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Mohammad Saeed Hareb, the creator of the region’s beloved animated housewives, Freej, leading Emirati jewellery designer Azza Al Qubaisi and well known Lebanese TV presenter, George Kurdahi.
Immediately after appointing SRK as the brand ambassador, du went ahead and released an advertisement that listed Shah Rukh’s mobile number alongside the endorsement of its popular ‘Elite Plan’. And naturally that sent his fans on a dialing frenzy. More than 8000 calls with over 1000 personal voice messages were recorded.
Though initially fans expressed disbelief and questioned the validity of the number, yet they went ahead and left their messages. For those who dialed, they were mighty excited to hear Shah Rukh’s warm voice greeting them, ”Hi, This is Shah Rukh Khan. I cannot take your call right now. Please leave your message and love.”
There was such an overwhelming reaction to Shah Rukh Khan’s mobile number that by the end of the day no calls were going through, much to the disappointment of the fans. And the spokesman from du had to clarify that due to an overwhelming public reaction to SRK’s personal mobile number, they were experiencing some technical difficulties. This was sorted out later. However, the over expectant fans were a bit sad that they did not receive any call from Shah Rukh Khan, while others were just happy to hear his voice greeting them in his characteristic charming style, and this certainly made their day. A novel idea indeed!
All we in India can hope is for Airtel/Nokia (for which SRK is the brand ambassador) to emulate something as interesting as this and give SRK’s fans in India a chance to hear his personal taped message and make their day too!

Fashion fever catches up fast in Bollywood!
From quite sometime we have been observing Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan carrying a new style statement – a kaifiyeh scarf wrapped up around his neck. And he seems to be so-much-so obsessed with it that almost at every public appearance he makes, we can see King Khan in a new scarf.
Now it looks like Bollywood’s cool dude Shahid Kapur is highly inspired by SRK’s style. Recently the young lad Shahid at DOSTANA fame director Tarun Mansukhani’s birthday bash, where he came along with his supposed-to-be girlfriend Priyanka Chopra, was spotted wearing a multicoloured scarf. And it was not only Shahid who came in scarf but his girlfriend Priyanka also accompanied him in a garish looking scarf around her neck.
The star-studded Tarun’s birthday party also included couple Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder, Ritesh Deshmukh in his INDIA 24/7 look, Bobby Deol – who preferred to stay away from media, Manish Malhotra – who walked in with a friend and DOSTANA producer Karan Johar, Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor walked in the last hand-in-hand.

Mumbai, April 19 (IANS) Jiah Khan may be out of UTV Motion Pictures’ ‘Yahoo’, but the young actress has quite a few reasons to cheer. Not only has she been roped in for a separate two-film deal by the same production house, she has also signed a three-film contract with ‘Ghajini’ producer Madhu Mantena.
‘I think I owe her that,’ said Mantena. ‘Specially after the way she has been treated.’
Things didn’t work out between UTV and Jiah as it was felt that she didn’t suit the character in ‘Yahoo’ opposite Shahid Kapur.
‘God has a unique way of evening things out. I must admit I was very low after what happened. When Madhu’s call came it was like a sign from heaven,’ said Jiah.
The actress has met up with the producer and one of the films that she has apparently been signed on for is the much talked-about sequel to ‘Ghajini’, the action hit that had Aamir Khan in the lead.
But Jiah does not want to reveal much at this early stage.
‘It’s much too early to talk about what we’re doing together. But the important thing is Madhu came forward when he thought I was in a situation. UTV, whose film ‘Yahoo’ I lost, have also signed me for a two-film deal,’ the actress said.
Why sign Jiah for two films after the ‘Yahoo’ fiasco?
‘I’m too small, too new and too much of an outsider to comment on why UTV did what they did. I did work for almost two years on ‘Yahoo’. I performed a very difficult dance number with Shahid. And I was very proud of matching steps with Shahid. Like I said it’s not mine to question why.’
Jiah has also signed Sajid Khan’s ‘House Full’ where she has two other leading ladies – Deepika Padukone and Lara Dutta – fighting for Akshay Kumar’s attention.
‘But I’ve my own track. And I get to do comedy for the first time. I was very good at comedy in acting school,’ the youngster quipped.

Ready for last two years, FROZEN will finally release in theaters on 1st May. Current stand off between producers and multiplexes has resulted in quite a few films coming out of cold storage and FROZEN is one of them.
Starring Danny Denzongpa in the lead who plays the role of ‘Karma’, the film depicts the life of a family whose dream like existence is interrupted by inevitable odds, one after the other. Made in Hindi and Ladakhi, the film was shot at an average height of 12000 feet above sea level in Ladakh, the eastern part of Jammu and Kashmir, bordering China.
Produced and directed by Shivajee Chandrabhushan, the film has received 18 highly acclaimed awards. Not just that, it has also toured 30 international film festivals over the period of time and would now be seeing a release in India. Interestingly, the film would be seeing a staggered release. While in Mumbai the film will be screened beginning 1st May, in other cities it would arrive on later dates.
After a few forgettable outings in films like KARZZZZ, CHAMKU and BIG BROTHER, one hopes that Danny has sunk his teeth into something really worthwhile in FROZEN where he plays a central protagonist. Some of the other films in which Danny would be seen in months to come are ACID FACTORY, TEEN PATTI and LUCK.
Coming back to FROZEN, the film also stars Shilpa Shukla of CHAK DE INDIA fame. Others in the case comprise of Yashpal Sharma, Raj Zutshi, Aamir Bashir, Shakeel Khan and Denzil Smith.

BIG Home Video’s recent release Aamir Khan starrer ‘Ghajini’ has been ruling the home video charts across the country consistently, since its March 14th launch coinciding with Aamir’s birthday.
If ‘Ghajini’ was the most awaited film last year, its home video ruling the charts has proved that the home video has also been awaited by the film fans. Starring Aamir Khan, Asin, Jiah Khan, Pradeep Rawat in power packed performances, directed by A R Murugadoss, with music by the maestro A.R. Rahaman, the film has been creating box office records both in India and abroad.
BIG Home Video has launched a premium collector’s edition, a 2 DVD pack. Apart from the film, the ‘Special Features’ disc is full of exclusive, never seen before content. The disc contains ‘Making of Ghajini’, ‘Making of the songs’, ‘Aamir Khan’s workout’, ‘Aamir’s injury’, ‘Deleted scenes’ and the now omnipresent ‘Ghajini look’. ‘Ghajini’s’ strength lies in its gripping screenplay. The raw action sequences are amongst the finest you will see in a long, long time. Watching Aamir’s character grapple with his 15 minute memory span makes for an engaging watch. It is also a film that ought to be seen for the sheer novelty of its theme and its execution.
There would not be many who would have missed the film and there would be one too many who would want to repeat the experience again. For all of those, ‘Ghajini’ home video is an essential to their library collection.

Aishwarya Rai has done it, Frieda Pinto is doing it, and now Payal Rohatgi is set to become the latest Indian export to Hollywood. The former Big Boss contestant’s route from B-grade flicks to mainstream success has not been easy.
“I did not have anybody to guide me on what kind of films I should look at, and I goofed up in that big time,” says Payal. “The journey for me was very difficult but I worked on myself to be stronger as an actor and rejected many movies.”
This included turning down Yash Raj Productions offer of a part in TASHAN. Payal explains, “The role was not the kind I was willing to do, but I would definitely like to work with them in the future- and I know I will.”
The 36 CHINA TOWN and CORPORATE star recently wowed the crowd when she made a presence at this year’s Filmfare Awards. The actor, whose latest release DIL KABADDI saw her paired opposite Irrfan Khan, is buoyant about her career at home and abroad.
Hoping to follow her co-star’s overseas success, Payal says, “SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE has been a great achievement,” adding, “It has opened the doors of Hollywood for Indian cinema.” She reveals, “My fans will see me in a lot of different roles which I will start working on soon. There are a couple of big things lined up including a Hollywood project.”
