Washington, Mar 4 (ANI): Wondering what your favourite stars do to stay in perfect shape despite their busy schedules? Well, here’s your chance to know about the fitness secrets of some of the biggest Hollywood hotties, and what better way to do that than by knowing it from the horse’s mouth itself.
Stars who thronged Leeza Gibbons’ “Night to Make A Difference” Oscar Viewing and After Party, have divulged the details of their workouts, and what they do to stay trim, and here’s what they had to say:
“I do a mixture of cardio and light weights using household items,” Fox News quoted Spice Girl Mel Brown as saying.
Scary Spice further said that she and Victoria Beckham were still BFFs and “talk all the time.”
On the other hand, music legend Olivia Newton-John’s fitness regime was quite exotic.
“I walked the Great Wall of China, it kept me in shape, I did it to raise money for my hospital last year,” she said.
Surprise performer Michael Buble revealed that he just played hockey, and the gym “isn’t his style.”
When it came to Teri Hatcher, she claimed that dieting was something she did not prefer.
And rocker Slash said that all he did to stay in shape was “wake up in the morning.”
However, Muhammad Ali’s ultra-athletic daughter Laila Ali was one girl who reported going to the toughest extreme to stay in shape.
“Sometimes I have to lose 10 lbs the week of a fight and it can be done, it’s a lot of water weight, but it’s taking water pills, getting in the sauna, not eating much, sweating it out, it’s not healthy,” she admitted.
Laila also claimed that she stayed away from alcohol and television.(ANI)

New Delhi, Feb 20 (ANI): ‘The O.C.’ star Mischa Barton has revealed that Pilates is the secret behind her slim frame.
She said: “For me, it’s all about Pilates recently. I’m obsessed with Pilates. I think it’s so fun.”
The 23-year-old actress had recently sparked concerns for her health after displaying an increasingly thin physique, reports the China Daily.
Mischa hit out at critics of her weight loss, insisting she has never embarked on faddy diets or extreme exercise regimes.
She added to America’s OK! magazine: “I don’t do any crash diets. There’s nothing that I really do like that, because I’m always working. I mean, before I go do a film, I do workout more. I do get ready for a film and try to be healthy and in shape. And when I’m not working, I do less of it.
“I do more cardio because I work long hours. Jogging, running – tuff like that’s really good before you do a film so you have more energy.” (ANI)

New Delhi, Feb.4 (ANI): Doctors attending to former prime minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Atal Behari Vajpayee on Wednesday said he had developed pneumonia. His condition is stable but needs to be kept under observation for some days.
Eighty four-year-old Vajpayee has been undergoing medical treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after complaining of chest pain on Tuesday.
“When he (Vajpayee) came here he had fever and chest congestion. After investigations, we had found he had pneumonia. His condition is stable,” said Dr Sampat Kumar, chief cardio- thoracic and vascular surgeon at All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
“We are taking extra care because of his advanced age. Generally, this congestion affects the functioning of the heart also. Because of the infection, a patient has to make effort for breathing which puts stress on the heart”.
Earlier in the day, AIIMS officials announced that the 84-year-old leader, who was admitted last night, spent a restful night and the congestion was less.
“He will be under observation for the next three to four days. He is breathing normally,” D.K. Sharma, Medical Superintendent of AIIMS, while adding that Vajpayee was not in the ICU and he is admitted in an adjoining room for the security reasons.
BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad visited him at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Prasad said that Vajpayeeji’s condition is much better now and doctors have advised him complete bed rest.
“Vajpayee ji is feeling much better now and his chest infection is also better. His condition has improved now. Doctors have advised him rest and issued the bulletin as well. And doctors have requested that it would be good if many people do not make visits. He’ll be here for a few more days but his condition has improved a lot now,” said Prasad. (ANI)

New Delhi, Jan.24 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is ‘doing fine’ as he has been taken off the ventilator after undergoing a successful coronary by-pass surgery to overcome multiple blockages to his heart.
Dr Ramakant Panda who led the team of doctors during Singh’s surgery said, “The 76-year-old Prime Minister is doing fine now. He is conscious. He also met his family and congratulated all doctors. Ventilator has been taken off and he is breathing on his own. This is an important step.”
Prime Minister’s personal physician, Dr K S Reddy informed that the doctors were expecting Singh to attend to some of the official duties after two weeks, most of his official duties after four weeks.
“He will be fully active and functional by six weeks or even before. He will be more active now,” he said.
One reason why the Prime Minister opted for an immediate surgery was he wanted to be ready and fully active well before the elections, Dr Sampath Kumar, Head of the Cardio Vascular Department at the AIIMS said.
Last night, the redo (repeat) by-pass surgery on Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had been declared successful..
Dr. Singh had been transferred to the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) after the operation.
“The operation was successful and there is nothing to worry about. His condition is stable. He has been moved to the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU),” doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had said.
The operation was carried out by a team of 11 senior cardiac specialists, and was led by Dr. Ramakant Panda, a highly reputed cardiac surgeon from the Mumbai-based Asian Heart Institute.
It lasted for more than seven hours. Dr. Singh was admitted into the AIIMS on Friday afternoon after he complained of chest pain and fatigue.
Dr. Singh had undergone a cardiac bypass surgery in 1990 in UK, and angioplasty in Delhi in 2004 in which stents were introduced in his arteries.
Grafts, which were used to bypass the diseased vessel on Dr. Singh 18 years ago, had once again started to narrow. (ANI)

New Delhi (ANI): Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, was taken off ventilator support on Sunday morning, and according to a health update, spoke with members of his family.
“Prime Minister Singh spent an uneventful night following the surgery. He talked to his family this morning. The doctors attending on him say that he is stable, comfortable and is making rapid progress,” a PMO statement said.
The Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, also called on him to enquire about his well-being.
Earlier, Dr Ramakant Panda, a specialist of Mumbai’s Asian Heart Institute, who led the team of doctors during the surgery, informed that he is conscious and “doing fine” now.
He further said that the Prime Minister would need to be in the ICCU for about three days followed by a minimum of four days of hospitalisation.
Singh is expected to resume some part of his duties within two weeks but it will take six weeks for him to recover fully.
According to AIIMS cardio thoracic centre chief Dr Sampath Kumar, the Prime Minister simply said, “I am ready” to doctors before being wheeled into the operation theatre at 6.40 am. The surgery began at 8.45 am and the he was moved to the ICCU at 8.55pm after receiving five bypasses.
Singh’s personal physician Dr. K S Reddy described him as a “tranquil, calm and composed” person.
The bypass procedure took time as the Prime Minister’s old grafts had got clogged again.
He has earlier faced cardiac bypass surgery in 1990 and an angioplasty in 2004.
Dr Sampath Kumar said, “One reason why the Prime Minister opted for an immediate surgery was he wanted to be ready and fully active well before the elections.”
Dr. Manmohan Singh was admitted in the All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday, where an angiography-X-ray examination of the blood vessels was conducted on him. He also underwent several blood chemistry tests, CT scan and ECG, which have affirmed arterial blockages in the heart. (ANI)
