Brahmanandam Shows Middle Finger To Chiru

The star comedian Brahmanandam is one man who has often been known for his realistic and highly practical approach when it comes to relations and equations in the film industry. It now appears that he has branded even megastar Chiranjeevi as one among the crowd when it comes to his stand.

Apparently, it was a while ago when Brahmi said that if Chiru gives a chance, he would contest for the Attili constituency under the PRP tag. However, things changed and the scenario changed and it now appears that Brahmi is finding more solace in the company of the Congressmen.

As it is, he is teaming up with Chief Minister YSR for a movie and there is a strong buzz that he is likely to join the Congress party soon. With so many developments, it is but obvious that Brahmi does not really show much concern towards Chiru or his word for Chiru when it comes to politics.

Brahmy is married to Lakshmi being blessed with two songs Goutham and Siddhartha. Brahmy till 10th class studied in Sattenapalli – Inter in D N R College – Degree and P G from Andhra University. By virtue of profession a lecturer in Athili junior college. First chance got in Sri Tatavataram and got name and fame through Aaha Naa Pelanta. The most liked director is Jandhyala. Brahmy won Doctorate award from Andhra University and Padma Sri award from Central Government.

Padma award goes to wrong person?

The Padma awards committee seems to have conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award in the field of art and culture to a man who turned out to be an exporter of shawls and not a national craftsman.

The blame game has already begun with senior government officials saying they had never recommended Hashmat Ullah Khan’s name in the first place.

Spokesperson of J&K Academy of Art and Culture Javed Rahl said, “There is no person by that name in the field of art and culture in this state. Also, the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages did not recommend anyone by this name.”

Khan was nominated for the Padma Shri under the art, culture and literature category. Then it was corrected to the craftsmen category, but when the hunt for Khan started after his nomination, it was found that no craftsman by that name existed in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Khan, he got a call on January 24 evening informing and congratulating him for the award.

“I was quite surprised because I had no idea that I could have got such an award,” a bewildered Khan said.

Khan, however, did not specify if the Government has tried to contact him after the faux pas or sought any clarification from him.

Speaking about his work, the exporter said, “I have worked for the benefit of artisans and never cared for fame or name. I have been working with weavers and craftsmen for the last 35 years. But apart from that nobody knows me in government circles. I am an unknown person.”

“I was shocked and wanted to know who the other person is. I don’t how people are getting my number. I am amazed at the controversy that is building up now. In fact my name is quite unusual for a Kashmiri. So I don’t know how my name came up,” Khan added.

When asked if this award could have been recommended by some of his customers, he said, “I don’t have any idea.”

Puri’s Neninthe For Siya’s Public Gossips

Even before the movie ‘Neninthe’ hit the screens the other thing that was discussed apart from the story of Puri Jagannadh was the glamour aspect and being the only leading lady, the newcomer Seiya was under complete focus and this pretty girl is endowed with some really enticing assets.

Prominent among that was her navel and there was a irony that happened in the film. The opening shot of the heroine showed that she had absolutely no interest to come up with revealing dresses but due to the need for survival she went through with it. But that was about it.

Later onwards, Puri left no stone unturned to ensure that Seiya’s navel was used to the fullest and though he tried to project his character as a rather soft approached towards glamour, the reality surfaced in no time when he began utilizing the beautiful navel of Seiya in whatever way possible. Strange but true…

What’s it about!

An assistant director Ravi (Ravi Teja) struggles to become a good director. He works under an established director (Brahmanandam) but he goes through lot of troubles getting right launch pad. On other hand, Sandhya (Siya), a troupe dancer falls in love with him. The rest of the movie is how he reaches his goal. Mallik (Subba Raju) and Mumaith (Mumaith Khan) play the roles of ‘hero’ and ‘heroine’ in the movie.

Analysis

Neninthe is all about movie industry and its pitfalls. Puri’s ‘bold’ attempt to throw ‘light’ on industry’s ‘dark secrets’ goes haywire. Those who are not well versed with the industry’s inside stories would feel big bore. Except some ‘movie buffs’, the so-called satires on the movie industry cannot be related to. And the narration of the movie is very slow and there is hardly any story.

Yes, it is true that every coin has two sides but projecting all the heroes, directors, producers, critics and even audiences in the same league shows how narrow knowledge that the director has. It sumps up the movie. Puri Jagannadh’s hollow script, weak characterization of Ravi Teja and confused goal of the movie induces the boredom.

He also touches many aspects related to the movie industry. There is too much of everything that spoils the broth.

Performances

Ravi Teja carries the same rugged look that he has been showing in all the movies. For the character of a struggling assistant director, he looks odd with his ’street fighter’ looks. Yet, he comes up with good performance in emotional scenes. Newcomer Siya is apt for ‘junior artiste or dancer’. Mumait Khan’s episode is silly. Subbaraju is okay. As ‘die’-hard fan, Sairam Shankar stands out with his neat performance.

As in all Puri’s movies, Shyam K Naidu excels with his right visuals in tune with the movie. Music by Chakri is ordinary excpet for the song of ‘Krishna nagare mama..’

Puri Jagannadh is letdown by his own writing (script). Characterization of Ravi Teja is so confusing. Sometimes he is sober and in the next scene he is aggressive and bashes up villain (in all about 10 times). He is failed to portray the angle of an underdog (a struggling director) winning his goal correctly. The so-called satires on the movie industry are also skewed.

Some Questions/Observations

1. Puri questions media about its writings for ‘exposing the industry’. Then what he did was in Neninthe not the same? Cursing the same industry that gave him bread and fame? Why this dual mentality?

2. There is a comment in the film – Why do you (NRI audiences) think too much about just 8 Dollars before going to the movie?

For Puri, 8 Dollars might be peanuts because he gets Crores of Rupees as remuneration but general folk always think twice before they spend single penny because it is their hard-earned money. For USA based Telugu people watching a movie needs a lot of planning, traveling, scheduling their tasks, etc. It is not just the question of $8. So they naturally tend to rely on reviews.

3. Agreed that some of the reviews are biased at times. A general sweeping comment that reviewers take money and write reviews is far beyond the truth.

4. Puri tries to portray heroines in the industry as ‘Sati Savitris’. Are heroines really that ‘untouchable’?

5. Puri says through the movie that media is living off on movie industry by publishing news and photos of the movies. Really? Then what he is doing? Is he not living off on the public by throwing his movies to the audiences? In this world everything is mutual.

Bottom-line

Neninthe might seem ‘bold’ concept wise but it lacks punch. The treatment, hero’s character, the supposed jokes, and satires all have gone haywire. It is big bore for general audiences. If you are related with the movie industry, it might seem okay. On the whole, it is an appealing flick.
