London, Feb 26 (ANI): Exercise is better in the morning if you have a stressful job, as mental fatigue can affect physical performance, says a new study.esearchers at Bangor University found that people who are mentally fatigued and exercise reach the point of physical exhaustion sooner than they do if they are mentally rested before exercising.
Also, they found that even though being exhausted after work doesn’t actually affect the muscles, it does make it harder for people to exercise so vigorously.
The researchers reckon that it makes people ‘perceive’ that exercise is more exhausting and could lead to treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome.
“People with chronic fatigue report that they lack energy and experience ‘brain fog’, just like the mentally fatigued participants in this study,” the Telegraph quoted Dr Samuele Marcora, as saying.
“In addition, as in this study, people with chronic fatigue perceive exercise to be more difficult despite physiological responses considered normal during exercise,” Marcora added.
The study, therefore, suggests that athletes and stressed workers would be better to train when their minds are fresh although researchers said any exercise was still beneficial.
“People who exercise after work should continue doing so, even if mentally fatigued, ” Marcora said.
“Most people work out at a moderate intensity, which still gives plenty of physiological and psychological benefit, including relief from stress and improved mental performance,” the expert added.
In the study, 16 volunteers were asked to exercise on a bike, half the time when their mind was fresh and half the time after 90 minutes of mentally fatiguing work.
The researchers found that participants stopped exercising on average 15 per cent earlier when they were mentally fatigued. (ANI)

Sacramento (California, US), Feb.19 (ANI): Champion cyclist Lance Armstrong’s time-trial bike that was stolen from the Team Astana truck before the first stage of the Tour of California has been found.
Police said a local resident brought the custom bike, worth about 10,000 dollars, to a police station in the city of Sacramento on Wednesday.olice said the investigation of the theft is continuing, and added that they will return the bicycle to Armstrong, who is competing in the Tour of California.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the seven-time Tour de France champion had used the bicycle Saturday at a rain-pelted, wind-pounded opening of the 750-mile race that continues through the week.
Armstrong’s bicycle was one of several stolen from an Astana team truck parked behind a hotel in Sacramento.
A lock on the truck was clipped to get inside, according to police.
Armstrong on Sunday sent out a rallying cry to the more than 128,000 Twitter members who have signed up to receive the brief text messages he routinely fires off on the popular micro-blogging service.
A Facebook group called “1 Million Citizens Looking for Lance Armstrong’s Stolen Bike” had grown to 1,282 members by the time word of the Trek’s return hit the Internet on Wednesday.
Cancer-survivor Armstrong, 37, retired in 2005 but has set out to make a comeback. The California race is his second on a comeback trail that started last month in Australia, where he finished 29th place in the Tour Down Under.
Armstrong intends to compete in this year’s Tour de France. (ANI)

Cartegena (Spain), Feb.12 (ANI): Seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher was admitted to hospital overnight after crashing during super bike testing at a race track in the Spanish city of Cartagena.
The Daily Telegraph quoted local officials as saying that the 40-year-old had broken two ribs, complained of pains in his neck and wrist and was unconscious for several minutes after the accident.
The newspaper said Schumacher underwent a brain scan “which ruled out serious injuries despite the strong impact his head had against the ground.”
A spokesman for the Virgen de Arrixaca Hospital in the nearby city of Murcia confirmed he had been taken to the hospital but was not able to provide information regarding the extent of his injuries. (ANI)

London, Feb 9 (ANI): Former England football legend Paul John Gascoigne, popularly referred to as ‘Gazza’, wants to take part in the gruelling Ironman Triathlon event, in a bid to conquer his drink, drug and depression problems.
Playing in the position of midfield, Paul’s career included spells at Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough, Everton, Lazio and Rangers. He was also capped 57 times for England.
According to a report in the Daily Star, Gazza has spent the last month in intensive rehab therapy at Tony Adams’ Sporting Chance clinic, and his friends say that a change in regime has inspired him to focus on fitness instead of the high life.
One friend of the former midfielder said that Gazza reckons the gruelling Ironman Triathlon event is just the challenge he needs to become a “changed man”.
“Paul has been getting himself in great shape while he’s been in rehab. Nearly every day, he’s been in the gym and it’s got him thinking about taking on a challenge,” said the friend.
If Gazza goes ahead and enters the contest, which is organized by the World Triathlon Corporation every year, he will have to tackle a 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike ride and then a marathon.
“We’re not just talking about a 10k run or something. The Ironman would be the ultimate!” the friend said about the triathlon.
According to sports science experts, former England ace Gazza, 41, is likely to have a strong fitness “base” from his days on the pitch. Even if Paul hasn’t done that much exercise in recent years, his body will remember the demands he once placed on it,” one of the experts said. Because of that muscle memory, he stands a good chance of recovering his fitness very quickly,” he added.
Paul has been staying at Champneys Forest Mere health farm in Hampshire during his spell at the clinic. (ANI)

Washington, Feb 8(ANI): For all those who have a passion for bikes, here’s some good news: Mission Motors is coming up with an electric motorcycle that promises a speed of almost 150 miles per hour.
The bike, dubbed as Mission One, gets its power from 3-phase AC induction motor and a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery, which the company claims, delivers 150 miles.
Moreover, it takes just two hours to get recharged at 240 volts.
The top-shelf hardware includes Ohlins suspension at both ends, four-piston Brembo brakes and Marchesini forged wheels.
The components – and the claimed 150 horsepower – put the bike on par with hardcore sportbikes like the Ducati 1198.
The motorcycle developed by former Tesla Motors engineer will begin selling them next year for 69,000 apiece dollars.
“As a motorcycle enthusiast and engineer, I knew I could combine my passion for motorcycles with my passion for innovation and create a motorcycle that truly sets a new standard in the perception of electric vehicles,” Wired.com quoted company founder and CEO Forrest North as saying.
“With Mission One, we’re writing the next chapter in motorcycle design, delivering a new riding experience without sacrificing performance or design in a zero emissions vehicle,” he added. (ANI)

Washington, January 26 (ANI): A laser-based system called LightLane, which can help keep cyclists safe from fast moving vehicles, is being proposed as one of the newest technologies that can improve that morning commute.
The system clearly mark, in bright red lights, where car lanes end and bike lanes begin, helping keep cyclists safe even at night when reflective devices don’t quite cut it.
Second top new technology in the same field is for the benefit of commuters who have to choose between breakfast and catching the bus, reports Fox News.
Companies like TransitTracker keep tags on buses and trains so that people can track them online or on their cell phones.
The system follows a commuter’s ride’s actual location – not an estimated schedule – so that he/she knows exactly when it will arrive at his/her station or stop.
Third on the list is an ingenious iPhone application called iNap, which involves the phone’s in-built GPS device to track a sleeping commuter’s location, and set off an alarm to wake him up when he is near his destination.
Following is the Attention Assist technology, through which Mercedes-Benz is planning to manage fatigue, which it says is the cause of most accidents.
The technology reads telltale signals, such as the way one is steering and braking, monitoring one’s sleepiness and flashing an alert when the person seems too tired.
Wrapping up the top five was a program being developed by Enter Nissan, which will sense obstacles and incoming vehicles, instantly reacting to avert a crash.
It uses a laser to give it 360 degrees of protection, modelled on a bumblebee’s compound eyes that can see in most directions.
The technology has not been worked into an auto yet, and currently remains housed inside a duck-sized robot.
Sixth on the list was IntelliDrive, which is aimed at allowing vehicle-to-vehicle interaction, so that if a car brakes suddenly, it could transmit a signal to cars behind, allowing drivers or computers to brake in time.
It was followed by an Audi-sponsored technology called Travolution, which lets a car communicate with traffic systems, and determine when lights will turn green, allowing the driver to coast through intersections.
It even calculates the speed the driver should maintain to get to lights at the right time, something that can help ease up and achieve better fuel economy.
Eighth on the list was a technology that can allow to charge music players and other small electronics just by shaking them.
Another top idea would be to design high-tech parking spots that can alert people when they are empty via e-mails or text messages.
Wrapping up the top 10 was an idea to make self-parking cars. Ford is said to have embraced self-parking technology, and plans to equip two of its 2010 models with cameras and sensors that let their Lincolns do the work for you.
Top 10 newest gadgets and applications bent on improving that morning commute:
1. LightLane
2. TransitTracker
3. iNap
4. Attention Assist
5. Biomimetic Robot
6. IntelliDrive
7. Travolution
8. Shake It
9. Meter-Mail
10. Self-parking cars (ANI)
