Miss Earthy beauty 2008 Contest
She’s there for the Miss Earth 2008 beauty pageant, the only contest that helps heavenly beauties get together for an earthy cause – its agenda is to save Mother Earth from exploitation.
Tanvi’s competing for the crown with 84 other contestants from the world over. But there’s not a nervous bone in Tanvi, as she told us just before leaving India for Manila. “I am very excited, and happy to be the chosen one to represent India. I shall do my best,” she said. And helping her put her best foot forward are a whole host of experts.
Hemant Trevedi is the official contestant director, Deanne Pandey, the official fitness expert (Play – the fitness studio). Tanvi’s fab figure is all thanks to official dietician Niti Desai’s hard work. And Sabira Merchant has made sure Tanvi speaks loud and clear during the question and answer round, as her official diction expert. The Official Grooming and Etiquette expert, Rukhsana Eisa, has also had her work chiselled out for her.
Bharat and Dorris will ensure that Tanvi looks her glam best – they are her Official make-up and hairstyling experts, you see. And Dr Jamuna Pai, the Official Skin Care expert, is the reason why Tanvi’s skin glows these days. The perfect smile kudos should go to Dr Sandesh Mayekar, the official smile care expert, whereas Dr Apoorva and Sonal Shah of Richfeel Trichology Centre, have worked on Tanvi’s crowning glory as her hair care experts. “The crown is always placed on the head, and hair is truly one’s crowning glory. Lustrous hair always adds to a person’s self image, prestige and confidence. We at Richfeel have always felt great pride in taking care of the Femina Miss Indias’ crowning glory for the last seven years,” says Dr Shah.
Sandip Soparrkar is the choreographer for talent round, as is Vijayshree Chowdhary. “Dancing improves one’s personality and posture. Tanvi is an extremely talented girl. To train her was not tough at all, Vijayshree and I realised that the moment we showed her the first step. She feels strongly for animal welfare too. So for her to emote the ‘save the snake’ dance was a cakewalk. This training has also helped her to maintain a good gait, stance and posture on stage. I wish her all the best,” said Sandip.
Dr Mohan Thomas is the Cosmetic Consultant, and Jayati Bose the official stylist. It has been Seema Hingorani’s job to see that Tanvi remains relaxed and stress free during the entire contest as her Official Psychoanalyst. Subi Samuel is the person who has captured Tanvi’s beauty for eternity as her official photographer, and the ever graceful Ritu Kumar has designed Tanvi’s national costume, her Indian wear and Indo-western casuals. Mandira Wirk has designed those lovely cocktail dresses and business suits that Tanvi will be wearing on many occasions in Manila. Her evening gown has been designed by Nikhil and Shantanu, and last but not the least, it is thanks to Singapore Airlines, the official airline partner, that Tanvi’s been able to reach Manila in all comfort. For, as CW Foo, General Manager – India, Singapore Airlines, says, “We are proud to fly Tanvi on Singapore Airlines
to the very vibrant and fascinating Philippines, for the Miss Earth Pageant. We recognise the significance of preserving the environment and our association with Miss India-Earth for an initiative for the underprivileged kids was a step in that direction. Through such initiatives, we hope to sensitise young minds towards the natural environment.”
